We have lost so many of our sewing and quilting shows - HGTV has NONE and most public not carrying them at least around here. I do get Fons and Porter but just cannot stand watching that anymore - the daughter drives me nuts. I would like to put her head in a vice grip to hold it still. She is so cutsie with her dimples and head bobbing - like a bobble head doll in the rear window of a car! I guess I am just venting.

I just can't watch Fons & Porter anymore. The daughter is just so distracting!

Would a Yuck work?
Spotted some video links I hadn't seen before, but not sure where they are now. Will try to find them.

I waited for years to be able to get satellite TV so I could watch these shows. I believe I was able to tape two shows at 5am before they took them off the air.
So, disappointing to not have these on television.

I agree with all who say the daughter is distracting. Fons being on the show without her daughter would be such an improvement. On the show Saturday she even had her dog on the show. She was featuring an applique dog quilt but come on.....her daughter & the dog??? I miss Liz!

I agree too; used to love watching Fons & Porter but can't stand watching the daughter, which is too bad.

Our PBS station has a Saturday lineup starting with Sewing with Nancy - then Quilting Arts and then an alternating program - right now it is Fons and Porter. It changes every 13 weeks or so. So what used to take up an hour on a Saturday morning now takes 2 hours Smile Thanks heavens for the DVR.

I used to watch/DVR Simply Quilts when it was on. But I finally decided that if I ad time to sit and watch TV I could/should be sewing.

Our two PBS stations have taken off most of the quilt shows in my area. We still have Sewing with Nancy - the rest are gone. When I called our PBS stations and asked why - they said the shows cost too much money. I did not contribute to PBS on their last pledge.

Wow I guess I'm lucky. I get Sewing with Nancy, Then Quilting Arts, Fons & Porter, Elenore Burns Quilt in a Day
and Martha Pullon. I set the DVR to record them so from 7:00 AM to 10:00 I have my shows before football comes on and my DH takes over the TV.

Sew, sew, and sew some more that's my motto!

I feel so lucky every Saturday morning on PBS from 9 to 12 I get to see Love of quilting, It's SewEasy, Quilt in a day, Nancy Sews, Quilting Arts, and Martha's Sewing Room. I usually watch them but record them at the same time in case the phone rings or DH gets chatty.

We get RFD tv, and they've been showing Quilt in a Day for several years. Right now, a series from 2003, the 25th Anniversary is airing. If you get RFD tv, look on Wed @ 1:30pm & 11:30pm(central).
We are lucky enough also have a PBS that airs Quilting Arts, Sewing w/Nancy, Sue Hausman, and Fons & Porter(Liz has been a guest recently, & she filled us in on what she's up to these days. Did you know she moved to Texas?

I get Quilt in a Day, Sewing with Nancy & Quilting Arts. Used to be able to get Love of Quilting but am glad I don't now. I think Mary is channeling her inner Liza with a Z WAAAY too much!

Why do quilting shows cost so much? Hosts ask for too much **$?

Just wondering.

Just a reminder, in case there's interest in viewing the Simply Quilts that HGTV still has here online. Try putting "ask alex" in the "search HGTV" box at the top of this page. You'll get Simply Quilts segments with Alex's answers to viewer questions. "eleanor burns quilt" will get you 6 video segments(=2 simply quilts episodes) and 2 texts with instructions for Tennessee Waltz and the Double Pinwheel quilts. "simply quilt videos" in the search box will keep you busy alot longer. This weekend, when the rest of the house is watching football, I can be in my sewing room, and have the videos playing in the background. One thing about the videos over the tv, I can watch them when I want to. Smile
I still enjoy viewing them, and don't mind at all that they are several years old. I find that much of what we are seeing these days are just older ideas recycled.
Eleanor Burns also has a lot of her videos posted online. Some that have never been aired on TV. Look here http://quiltinaday.com/theater/library.html
If you have any problems viewing...go to the very bottom of the page and she has a link to Vimeo video site where she's got them, too. Also, do check your "flash" player for updates for all videos, not just Eleanors. Bonnie Hunter mentions that her Quiltcam is better if "flash" is updated.
Now, there's work to do before my family arrives. Hope you all enjoy the holiday...and maybe some quilting, too! Big Grin
Eta: I do have a lot of the shows recorded onto DVD....I can watch those on the 'puter, too...right by the sewing machine. l o v e it!!!Big Grin
