Q: HOW DO I WILL I KNOW WHAT A CW FABRIC IS? A: Unless you're an expert, the only way to be 110% sure the fabric you are picking out is an actual CW repo, is to look on the selvedge. The selvege will have the reporductions years printed on them (1850's - 1880's).
Because CW prints are very easily confused with other prints, it is required the selvedge says that it's a repo with the date 1850-1880 marked on it. I trust that we all want the real deal repos, so ladies, please, please - look at the selvedge. If you don't see the CW repo info, it's probably not. I don't want to send any back!
CW Era / Reproduction (1850’s--1880’s) Fat Quarter Swap
Hosted by: ithinksew
Here are some guidelines. I expect that each participant, regardless of the amount of swaps you've been in, please read through them! Swaps change... rules change....
MAIL BY DATE: Friday - May 2nd, 2008. Once you have mailed them, please notify me. Those i have not heard from will be removed from the swap, so please keep me posted.
1. We will be swapping 100% cotton fabric in Civil W-r Era / Reproduction (1850’s--1880’s) patterns and colors. Please, no thin, loosely woven, or see-through fabrics. NO solids. You can find examples of these fabrics by doing a search on the internet.
2. To wash or not is up to you, but please specify if you have on a label on the FQ’s. Also add your board name to your label so we will know who to thank for the lovelies we receive.
3. We will swap Fat Quarters. They must measure 18 inches by half the width of your fabric if you purchase yardage. Generally a fat quarter is 18 inches by around 22 inches (no less than 21 inches).
4. Send in as many as you'd like to receive back. Limit: 15 per person (unless we get more than 10 swappers). No more than 5 of any one fabric design.
5. Put your FQ’s in a Ziploc-type baggie. Enclose a card with your name and address on one side and mine on the other. (In case your package should get torn in the mail.)
6. Enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope to return your FQ’s to you. Make sure the envelope is large enough and has enough postage on it (in stamps) to cover the return trip. The Tyvek priority mail envelopes that are free at the post office work great.
7. PM me (ithinksew) with your name, hgtv name, phone number and email address to join. Also how many FQs you'll be sending in. I will email everyone with my mailing address at the end of the month.
8. Sign-ups will be on-going, but please PM me so I know to expect your FQ’s.
hey sandie! I had you written down here for 15, i was going to add it later tomorrow but it's up there now! I can't wait to see all the pretties coming in!
Feel free to start mailing if you have them girls! I'll swap early if i have them all. I have mine and Bonnie's here!
I sent lights b/c they are so hard to find here where I live....
After reducing the swaps to newarly none...This is the only swap I have done in the last year and a half - and it is soooo worth it! I don't have access to buying CWs here much so this is a great way to get a variety.
I hope more people who like CWs will sign up to swap. at least 10-15 players or I will be getting some of my own back and I purposly bought 1.5 yards so I coudl send 5 and keep 1 of each of my fabrics

Talia, mine will go out today .. I just needed to pick up a bit more... any excuse to buy C/W I had sworn off swOps for this year - until YOU came along!! Tomorrow I will get to see more of the quilts forHOME OF THE BRAVE - they are made with C/W REPROS or very similar fabrics. (These are going to grieving families so modest and comforting look is imperative in fabric choice.) BTW --BTW -- If someone has this C/W or similar fabric that is just cluttering up their stash space.. I would pay postage to recieve it - tight budget this year or I'd offer to BUY it) Thank you ** City/Sandie
Hey Talia ~ I posted on the other thread that I will be sending in 15..... can't wait to get these beauties swapped.... cause I do LOVE CW fabrics! And I ALWAYS buy extra, cause I can't stand parting with them... the only comforting fact is that I still have some of what I send
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If I'd known I would live to be this old, I would'a taken better care of myself! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I lied. Have not been out of the house.. still in nightie ... back achey and 'stuff' to do, just stayed home. I guess I needed it. package is all ready to post, so it will get gone soon. I did make up more of the block kits today though, hoping to hand some out to be made when I go to the council tomorrow.. maybe there will be volunteers since all they have to do is sew a few parts together and press - don't even need to squre them up as that is done when they are sashed!!
and here is one of the banners they use on their webpage. "Shiloh" is featured on the left hand side draped over a clothes line and I think also it is the same pattern over to the right a little like a backdrop at a show where FQ bundles are set up for sale...
gonna try and attach it now...
Shiloh is a very pretty quilt.. I am going to do a block called Aunt Eliza's Star, but Ihave tweaked it a bit - and will probably finish something like Shiloh!
Oh my, I just thought I'd check this post out.I do love those fabrics, I'm very interested in this swap. I will see what's available here.Those are beautiful fabrics. I'll be cutting the deadline close,Because I won't be able to go shop till Wed. Hope I can get in this swap,let you know for sure or not soon. Donna
Hi Donna - I just found some real pretties in the Connecting Threads catalong starting on Paage 10.... available on line - and very reasonable in price - I have not shopped there yet, will give it a try this week as I want to check the quality. Others here who have used that site have been pleased, that encourages me. I don't expect it back in time for this swap of course, but once you have SOME you need SOME MORE
