I am going to put another strip of border. I have done straight quilting and a small practice of FMQ.
this is a baby or child size quilt. I made it mostly from stash and just wanted to try the pinwheels with something so I don't have anyone in mind for it yet. A woman at work is pregnant but having a boy.....
Thanks for any suggestions
How very pretty. Not much help with the quilting.I see some pretty flowers quilted. Is that your own pattern?I really like it. TFS
BLESSED WITH THE BEST !!!!
I'd do a FM spiral on the pinwheel blocks and then stitch a pinwheel on the rail fence blocks. I'm not sure what to add for the borders, maybe just FM meandering and circles. JMHO.
How much quilting do you want to do on the quilt? I think that I might do a flower type thing on the pinwheel blocks and on the rail fence maybe a butterfly or a heart, teddy bear or more flowers. And on the boarder some loops or something like that. just my thoughts.
How about doing some fun line dancing around the pinwheels..and then a curving line on the seams of the split rail fence blocks.. bring the curvy line out to the border. The line dancing is fun and quick and will give a lot of movement to your pinwheels.
I inverted the colors so you could see the pencil better.
When you do the curvy line on the split rail fence, don't take it into the white sashing of the pinwheel blocks...just bounce below the seam staying inside the split rail fence... Bounce back and forth on the seams inside the split rail fence so some of the curvy line is on top of the seam and some is under the seam.
Crazy Quilting is addictive so we just have to STITCH IT OUT LOUD!
I would do CC's in the pinwheel and squiggles in the split rail fence like Thearica did.
I don't mind coming to work. But that 8 hr. wait to go home is a drag.
No help on the quilting, but wanted to say how much I like the quilt! I especially like the white border on the pinwheels. It really helps them pop! Can't wait to see this quilt finished. Hope you will post a picture.
Lovely result from using stash...This may be the start of your stash of finished "gift" quilts.
Summers are just this side of hell, but you don't have to shovel sunshine...

Thanks for all the suggestions and visuals - I really need visuals! I printed it out so I can follow it better.
No, it is not my original idea. It is basically a warm wishes with the pinwheel. I was doing pinwheels and then they were too small so I added the white borders and really do like the way it separated them from the other colors.
No quilting suggestions, but love the quilt... Chris
Hey, wannaqlt -- I really like your quilt much better than the ordinary warm wishes. The frames and the pinwheels break up the busyness that warm wishes creates.
Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.
The fabric is gorgeous. I am into freemotion quilting and think that would look good with this fabric.
I would use a stencil on the rail fences and the cc on the pinwheels. Q did have some nice designs too.
