This is just a bit of a rant. As you all know I bought a Pfaff power quilter (long arm quilter). I was having problems with the thread breaking all the time. I made arrangements for a machine tech to come out to my home and check out my machine. He came out this morning and spent almost 2 hours with my machine. When he left it was not breaking threads but I can't use the computer quilting part. I could only do fm quilting. This afternoon I went to do some pratice quilting and the needle stuck in the down position and I can't bring it up. I called the tech and he said that he was stuck and that he had to call the Pfaff company to find out what is wrong. It will be a few days before he can fix it. I'm not a happy camper.

I would be very disappointed and in a very disagreeable mood! How old is it? Is it still within warranty? Why don't they give you a new one?

I would not be a happy camper either but I would be camping on their doorstep until it was resolved,I had my money back or it was fixed.
I'd be calling headquarters to squeak real loud....You have only one machine to deal with that tech my have several on his list...so squeak loud girl....

If you can find an online group of others who use this machine, I recommend it. Experienced quilters can give you lots of basic things to try before calling the technicians. They'll have a list of the usual problems for shredding threads, etc...

Well, that makes you want to say bad words!!

So sorry to hear this. I think the suggestion to find a support group is a good one.

Hang in there, and let Pfaff know you are not happy. This forum reaches a lot of people.

I have only had the machine about a month. I did buy a service contract with it. Pfaff has only had the machine out to the public for about 9 months. The service tech is waiting for some parts to finish the service it will take a few weeks to get the parts. but the needle sticking in the down position has been solved. After I got off the internet I was thinking about my problem and I went to my sewing room and tried to move the fly wheel I got the needle up. I than tried to pull on the thread and nothing happend so I took out the bobbin and found a knot in the bobbin thread. I cleaned that out and put the bobbin back in I than put the machine over the material and put the presser foot down. The machine runs great now. My face is very red and my DH laughed so hard that I had to hold him up. The thread breaking was because the machine was out of time. The tech also had to replace a part also. Now in the morning I will have to call the tech and tell him that I got the machine going again. I taped a note to the machine to tell me to put the foot down before I start sewing.

Hey, I think we were your support group!!! It's not (knot) as bad as having the service man come and plug in the machine for $50.00....ahem......

The service call cost me ....ahem... over 100. That was why I was so upset when the needle stuck.

Oh boy. At least hubbs laughed instead of getting mad!!!!

I think the most "duh" moment I have had was years ago. I was driving my grandparents' car while they were in Florida. On my way to work one day the car stalled in the middle of the road for some reason. I could not get it going. I was next to the church so went in to call the service station. When he showed up the guy looked in my window and said "First put the car in park". I was so used to driving a standard that I forgot an automatic has to be in park to start! DUH! Well, I drove it to the service station and made him drive me to work....just because...

Glad you got it going, sorry about the charge.

Speaking of cars .... a few yrs ago we had trouble with our car air conditioning. I picked it up from the garage after the repair. Drove around the block and no air ... went back to the garage and told the guy it wasn't fixed. He comes out, looks inside and says ... you have to open the vents for the air to come out .... boy was my face red.

You need to speak to Pfaff about paying the service call charge!

I agree you shouldn't have to pay for a service call when you have only had it a month. If it has only been available to the public for 9 months then they are having you work out the problems AND charging you to fix THEIR problem.

I would be unhappy too.

This would be so distressing to anyone. I feel so bad for you. Hope you can work something out.
