Let's hear your thoughts on B&W+color.
What's new?
Red, lime, or pink were the big thin for a while. Have you seen any new ideas you like?
What's your fav pattern for B&W+color?

I've seen yellow as a "new" color... 6 pointed stars would be traditional, but yet new in that colorway.

It may not be "new" but my 7 year old granddaughter recently chose hot pink to go with black and white for her next quilt. Her 13 year old brother picked two shades of blue for his black and white last year. His was a Hunter Star with the star in blue. • • • I'll stick with red. Sorry, just can't help it. I love the combination. Although, Royalboomer made a spectacular one with yellow. I think orange would work very well too. hmmmm, I might have to try that one (it's sort of red Smile)

I really like red with black & white but I think any of the really bright colors would make a statement.

I've seen new fabrics in the black, grey, white, & yellow color line. But I think I'd go for B&W and a nice light turquoise, kinda like a Tiffany blue.

I love to go to the hardware store & get paint chip samples, then come home & play with color combos. I even have a notebook where I keep color combo ideas. Some combos, I've gone to my stash, snipped pieces, and glued them into the book so I could see how the ideas looked in "real" fabric.

My favorite quilt is a sampler. They're always interesting and I don't get bored making them. Saw a floral quilt in a book tonight but you had to make 225 of the same flower. I made 20 leaf blocks last weekend and the only thing that saved me was a huge variety of batiks.

My favorite two dresses in college were b, w, and yellow and the other wad b, w, and rich brown. My favorite b & w quilt was a Barbie quilt since it had hot pink like Barbie's car. I made scottie dog blocks with pink bows. Found a great 50s looking fanfic for the border.

black, white and a bright teal look good together, but red, bright purple or hot pink are most striking to me.

Freddy Moran does houses a lot. Lots of B&W with brilliant colors and patterns. She says red is her neutral. "Freddy's House" is one of her books. A collborative one she did with Gwen Marston has appiqued chickens, log cabins, stars,9 patch, monkeywrench.

I,of course would make pinwheels! Smile

Come on - a good orange is perfect perfect perfect .. what is a good orange you ask? One that says to you HEY THERE I'M ORANGE ... Smile and then use it ... it's really almost a neutral you can use it with so many colors ...
