First flannel quilt I've ever made (used it for backing before, but not the front!). Flannel and minkie top, flannel backing. Should I put batting in between or not?

How thick do you want it? For myself, I don't know that I would unless I wanted a really thick blanket and had a really good sewing machine. You might also want to check with a longarm quilter in your area, see what they would do.

If you want a little something, but not a full batting, you could use another layer of flannel in the middle as batting. I've not seen it done that way with a flannel quilt, but I have seen flannel used as batting in a "summer" quilt.

I don't think batting is necessary when using 'minkie'. I wouldn't use batting if I was using it. [IMHO] Are you going to share pics?
