This is the thread where we post our goals for the next week, and then let our board friends know if we met the goals. They're your goals, and you can make them as simple or as complicated as you want to. I went beyond last weeks goal of making a no crochet sashay ruffled scarf- i made two of them. So my goal this week is to make 2 more. What is your goal for this week? Holly
I forgot to post last week..so perhaps my first goal is to post every week! haha...I did accomplish putting on borders on a charity childs quilt, using blocks from Sunshine..I made 2 receiving size flannel quilts for Project Linus. This week, my goal is to: 1)border a RW&B quilt which is earmarked for QOV, 2)border another charity child size quilt, 3) hem 6 pair of jeans for BFF and I dislike a lot hemming jeans! but she's lent me her extra car while I'm waiting for first pension check and can start car shopping ugghhh (because of course car transmission decided to die 2 weeks into retirement!!)
Went through flannel stash and picked out pieces for the self mitering receiving blanket and working on those now. Will also start putting quilt together after cutting remaining blocks apart. Need to layer some quilts for Project Linus make a blanket day-these will be tied by others. Karen
I have a girl and a boy quilt needed for Feb 10th so have pulled (and bought) fabric for those. Need to get started on them I guess. DGD asked me to make a party dress for her doll. That should be fun.But first I need to clean house! All this productivity has resulted in less time and energy for housework.
need to finish the pincushion I started. Have to think about what else I really need to do.
My goal for this week is to finish my goals from last week. Where does the time go? amiko
Amiko, I never even got started on my goals from last week, always seemed like something else got in the way.
I have completed my goals from last week. Made my Badger Quilt- will post pic. and completed my chain blocks for the year. Now I will start on one of my many projects which have been waiting years to be made. I just need to decide which one wants out of the box first. LOL Sue ![]()
Aliquilts, if you google hemming jeans there are some videos and instructions. I also wash and dry anything that needs hemmed several times as it seems to always shrink in length. TerryOH
I got the flannel quilt top pieced but had to go shopping (isn't that a shame) for one of the border fabrics. I will finish putting on the borders this week. I am still sewing on my string quilt blocks. Mindless sewing, but a lot of sewing. I also started something that wasn't in the plan but I feel is necessary. My dear cousin fell down her basement stairs and broke her fem*ur bone and laid there 3 days before being found. She had to have major surg*ery because the bone split lengthwise. She is doing good and recovering. But, I felt the need to make her a quilt. I have the blocks all pieced but need to put them together and borders and quilt it. I don't know what I will finish but I will give it my all! I will also work on my HGTV BOM. Happy sewing everyone!! |
My goal is to finish the valentine PC's. Do the Feb. BOM. Pick out something for the pincushion swap and perhaps get started on it. I did make my goals for last week by the skin of my teeth, but it's done. MountainLaural, sorry about your cousin. I hope she didn't have any other complications from lying there for three days, That can be so bad for the muscles. This message has been edited. Last edited by: PatriciaAnne,

This week: - make jelly roll race quit. - Finish binding Strip Twist - make binding for one colour quilt (guild challange) - Get caught up on Guild mystery - keep working on Bounce - Find binding and bind other quilt that is waiting...... - Get ready for the next two quilts coming back from Quilter (binding.....!! This should keep me busy because knowing me, I will get side tracked!!
I wanted to finsih off my nappy bags last week, and I did finish. This week I will need to get more order in my sewing area. ( do I have to) "There are three kinds of people in the world. Those who can count, and those who can't."
I didn't do much sewing last week. This week I want to do the following: Get the February BOM's done Get hexies and pincushions mailed off for swaps Finish the baby quilt for my newest Great Nephew Make a couple purses for Mom's friends That should keep me busy!
I finished last week's goals and went beyond. I made a new table runner, a door quilt for a friend. I made a couple of small make-up bags for friends. This week, my plans are to hem a pair of pants for a friend and to buy fabric for backing for my kitty quilt. I will probably go shopping tomorrow, weather permitting. I have a couple of things to do so will only have a couple of days to work. This has really kept me on task which is something I have difficulty with anyway.
When I hem pants I try to wash or clean them a few times as they always to shrink in length. I had to let DD1 works pants down and we washed them 3 or 4 times before hemming. TerryOH

Mostly happy with this week's goals. I did some more sewing room organizing. Will it ever be done? I hope. Did complete the pillow cover and made major progress on the hand quilting. So goals for this week -- keep on with the hand quilting, pull out a UFO and work on it, and continue with the re-organizing. I may have to tweak that after guild this week. Thanks again to whoever started this topic. I work much better on a deadline. Love all the pretties that are shown. Doesn't it make you feel good to get a project done!
Actually have finished most of my goals for this week already. Took a vacation day and wanted to finish up the backing, pillowcases and binding for the two quilt tops I had done for QWL and get them mailed to Miss Maggie. Late this afternoon I made to the post office and they are gone!!!! Yea! Quilt show tomorrow to meet up with Navy wife and think I will get busy with all the sport fabric that has been piled on the rocker in the spare bedroom for awhile. Can't even remember if it is washed or not it has been there so long. Guess I'll be washing it first... Chris

I've been trying to applique some borders on a paper-pieced challenge quilt. My goal was to get it finished. Wellllll, I didn't like the flowers, so ripped out three days' worth of work. The goal now is to put it aside and rethink the flowers. My other goal for right now is to get the 26 bias strips appliqued on the Sandy Hook Commemorative Quilt, finish the center medallion and applique it onto the center. sister sue, I like the way your Badger quilt is set up. Very nice! Last week I said I wasn't setting specific goals since DH and I are on vacation but that I was bringing along some handwork. It surprised me how much I got done! I finished one applique block for DGD's quilt and one embroidered block for another quilt. I now have only 5 more applique blocks to do and then the vines to add after the blocks are sewn together. The block will get pressed after we get home. ![]()
There are lots more blocks to embroider! I already have the fabric to use with these blocks and I chose the colors from the focus fabric. I think I may have missed drawing in a flower right under the basket handle. There is a stem without a flower. ETA: the embroidery shows up better in real life than it does in the pic. ![]()
There is a one day quilt retreat next Saturday so I would really like to get everything I need cut and set up for a quilt for my son and his wife. If I go to the retreat I can get the fabric I need to finish it for a discount!! Yipee! ...........does that make sense?? LOL
My goal for this coming week is to piece the rest of my blocks for QOV. I have three more to piece and some borders to add to one. Should be able to get it done since my quilting machine is on the fritz. Hoping to get it fixed by Monday.
Sue, I love your Badger quilt! Love the layout and it looks so good! Marylou, I like your applique block and the embroidered one... very pretty! I'm not good at either of those! Carolyn, so sorry to hear about your cousin. That is awful that she lay there for three days and I hope she comes through everything okay. My goals this week are to make the HGTV BOM... it's paper pieced and I'm not a fan but will do my best. Also continue on the charm pack blocks I've been adding to. I would also like to get another birthday block done for the swap with friends. Hope everyone has a good week sewing!
I love reading this post. Thank you Holly. I finsihed a quilt (that needs to be mailed to California) but need to stitch the binding down. Would like to have it in mail Monday. I have pattern and fabrics ready to go for RN55's robin row, would like to have a block or two done by end of week. Rondi

ok, this week I am going to finish the binding on pvilleou's QOV. CHECK I also want to get my mystery quilt from my guild finished. CHECK - No check, I need batting...But I did get the back pieced so it is ready to quilt That should be enough...If not, I'll get some of my charity quilt quilted too. This message has been edited. I think I'll keep my goals small again this week so I'll be able to attain them. 1. Put fringe on snowmen scarves on 2 mini wallhangings 2. Stitch snowflakes on snowman tablerunner and add crystals 3. Make February mini from Shabby Fabrics, embroidery is already done 4. Plan quilting for frogs and get started Guess I'd better get busy! Keep calm and carry on Life is good!!! Patty (KD0ICU) In God We Trust http://s77.photobucket.com/albums/j66/PattyannC/

i'm still working on making doll clothes for the American Girl Doll. today i cut out a cute flannel robe. i found the fabric at a garage sales this morning. a yard for a dollar. also got about 5 yrs of cream colored fabric for a dollar, figured i could use it for backing a quilt. oh and i bought 6 cookbooks for a dollar each. me who doesn't like to cook LOL. gave 3 of them to my favorite cousin Norma. she loves to cook. told her she had to make me a peach cobbler since one of the books was a Betty Crocker Dessert book. I just realized that when I reported on what I accomplished during the past week, I didn't say what my goals are for the coming week. So here they are: finish another applique block, finish another embroidery block, and crochet 3 or 4 spool pin doilies. While watching quiltcam one night this week, Bonnie was showing her spool pin doily. I'll be going to a retreat with 8 friends at the end of this month and decided to make one for each of them. I did a little internet searching but haven't yet found a pattern I like. I tried doing one without a pattern last night and it came out OK but I'd like a pattern.
l've been writing my goals down in a journal as well as on here but as l looked back over last week's post l realized l forgot to add mine there. But, l am happy to say l meet all my goals for last week and have even finished up all my goals so far for this year. My sewing room is back in order and ready for the next mess! This week's goals.... 1. Make at least 3 birthday blocks. (l'm behind!) 2. Make at least 4 owl blocks. Those twins are going to get here first if l don't get with it! That may not sound like much but if l Sub all week that will be quite the challenge for me. Good luck meeting your goals! ====================== l would be unstopable IF l could get started!!!
As I didn't meet all of last weeks goals they will be the same for this week. I have to piece both backs of the quilts that I want to work on I will be doing that. I have the back done on the smaller quilt and I'm putting the batting on it. I'm working on the bigger quilt back. I did do a lot of mindless sewing I'm about out of crumbs, I will have to start using what I set aside for strings. and than my blocks that I have cut out. I will also be working on my hand embrodery for the red work with a twist. This should keep me busy for this week. Handie Ann

Got one more receiving blanket done already. Got all blocks cut for quilt that has been on my list since we began our goals. Also played with layout and made a decision. BUT ran to Hobby Lobby with DH and on the way home, got in a car accident-other driver T-boned us. Blessed that although car was totaled-no apparent injuries other than bruises. Other driver was not hurt either. Sore at the moment a bit, some bruises are showing up. Husband was in passenger seat and car hit his door-will need to go see how he is doing-he's out in his woodworking shop at the moment. Karen
Glad you are OK. TerryOH
Oh Karen, I am glad to hear you are not hurt bad. But the soreness and bruises probably will be showing up and hurting more for the next couple of days. Watch those bruises. Take it easy. Sister Sue I love your quilt. I think you focus/ boarder fabric is the same one I'm using in the BOM. Actually all the same fabrics. I got off track my goal is to work on the corners of a BOM quilt I've been working on for 4 years now. Maybe this will be the year I finish it. The middle is finished and together at least. J Lu
Thanks ladies! So many what if's. It easily could have been worse. Church has been cancelled due to snow and slick roads so I think I shall pay the bills and then go sew. Have to go get stuff out of wrecked car is a while. Karen
Met my goals from last week which included looking at the video on making scarves with the sashay yarn. Well that wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be so I'm finishing up a scarf this week. Also I'll be embroidering another quilt block and making some doll clothes. However, my biggest goal is to get rid of a nasty sinus headache!!!
Hope you are feeling better soon, May Baby. I am not sure if I posted my goals last week. Time sure runs away. I am still working on the Halloween Baltimore blocks. I didn't work on them for a few days, but I have started topstitching the 20" center block. I also finished the hand embroidery on the ones that are done. I started a small piece for my secret pal at guild. I need to do a bit of hand embroidery on that then it is ready for quilting. I pulled fabric to make a commisioned wallhanging. I need to quilt and apply the binding on a quilt for my niece made with blocks her DGMIL made in the 30's or 40's. They are crazy pieced, I will post a picture when done. I made a puffed heart with red bicone beads. I pulled beads to make another needle case. I will quilt a quilt for my sister as I will see her this week when we travel to the Poconos to return my DH's work truck as he is retiring on Wednesday! I don't know if you should pr*ay for me or WOO HOO with me? It will be interesting as he told me on Friday he was bored already. We didn't go to CHu*rch today as his stomach feels funny. One of his men was sick this week. Hope he doesn't have it as I don't want it. Going downstairs to sew. Have a great week everyone.
I have my BOM done and posted on the HGTV Bom thread. Also worked a few of the chain blocks. I have my cousin's top all pieced and ready for the borders. I have been sewing away. It is snowing and windy and 19 out so I decided to be hermit. & sew. I didn't get any embroidery done this week as I had planned, but there's no deadline so that's okay. I did work on a tshirt quilt for my friend's son, and plan on doing some more this week. Still plan on getting my Boot Scootin' tree skirt off to the LAQ.
Got my pincushions for Chicky's swap almost done. So, goal for this week is to put on the finishing touches. After that, I need to get started on my QOV quilts for the retreat.

Ladies all of your projects are wonderful and you are all accomplishing sew much... Maybaby so sorry about the accident glad you weren't badly hurt. I...Unfortunately...haven't been able to even find my sewing table yet... since we have some major projects to do around the house first...DH is upgrading our electrical box to 200 amps...used to be only 100...old house and such... since he bought a lot of new techno toys we just couldn't pull enough power without tripping circuits... then our tank in a tank low flow toilet sprung a leak and when DH went online to find out the problem...found out it had been recalled and could explode! ACK!!!... BUT it didn't and hubby got it fixed...so .... my goal is to maybe find table by the end of the week! "People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within." Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

Wow, forgot to post my goals for this week. First is just to get a day off will be nice, worked 8 straight. Then do one more redwork block, CQJP project is not working the way I want, so starting from scratch. Trying to find a round maze online for a design, can`t!! And finally will be picking fabrics for the 2nd BOM fish.
oops - posted on the wrong thread my goals for the week will be to finish knitting a baby blanket and make 1 more Sylvia block. LOVE what's been shown so far - you are all such good inspiration! Char
Mountain Laurel- nice quilt!!! Love those D4P and D9P quilts and yours is wonderful! Emb- love the pillows!! I finally finished quilting and binding my Island Chain quilt! Now, I need to find a few more patterns this week to use up more of the strips that are still overflowing from my 2-1/2" strip shoebox!!! Wonder how many more I'll have to make before I can actually snap the lid on the shoebox!! So, that's my goal! Use up enough of the 2-1/2" strips from my shoebox so that I can actually snap the lid closed!!! pat ![]()
Pat... thank you. I think those strings multiply because I have been working on a UFO Christmas string quilt and I don't think my strings have gone down one bit! Chain quilt is still beautiful.
