Ladies, in reading our poll, the 2" finished hexie won.

Be advised that PaperPieces has generously offered our group a 20% discount for this swap, BUT that it would be open also to their customers. While we usually have a limit on how many sets you can send in for any swap, I will also need to limit the number of players. So, I will give you a head start to sign up BEFORE it goes up on their website. This is a big commitment, so please do not sign up if you cannot commit to the deadlines. I figure we will have the swap deadline in mid-January.

These will be swapped back in sets of six 2" hexagons of the SAME print (like to make a flower). I'm going to post prior to the sign-up a blog with step-by-step instructions for making these hexies along with the fabric guidelines.

So, hang in there and keep your eyes peeled for the next post!

Be advised that once the swap is posted,

I'm working on the final listing for this swap, but before I do, I would like to clarify the size we will be swapping out--2" finished.

Click here for the link on how to measure hexagons:

http://www.connectingthreads.c...ishPaperHexagon.html

So, we would be using 1" hexagons that finish with a horizontal measurement of 2" finished. Some of you might think we are measuring one side of the hexagon at 2", which would be a hexagon measuring out to 4"! That is one giant flower, lol! We will be swapping six hexagon pieces in the SAME print, amounts yet to be determined.

What I will include on the sign up post is links for paper piecing templates, sources for free pattern sheets, a tutorial on how to do English paper piecing and photos of suitable and unsuitable fabrics for this swap.

If successful, I wouldn't mind doing an ongoing swap. Just a reminder--PaperPieces is offering us a 20% discount and an invite to their customers will be made. There will be limited players per game, so if you see the sign up, please read the guidelines and contact me ASAP if you are interested.

If you are going to COF, just PM me before you leave and I will hold a slot for you.

Before we get this party started, I wanted to clarify that the first swap wouldn't be due to me until mid January. I don't want to add too much stress for those of you who would like to join in, but worry about commitments during the busy holiday season.

If all goes well, I would like to continue an ongoing swap for all of 2013 to add to our collections.

While we are starting with Stashbusters, I would consider swaps with certain fabric types, such as true 30's repros or small floral prints. Just share your thoughts with me.

I'll just be touching base with Paperpieces to see if they might offer the discount to all swappers for all of 2013.

Also, Owie mentioned about the plastic templates. I originally bought a set of 50 plastic templates whereas you can keep them in the hexagon flower until you sew the flower into the next row.

You see, you need to keep either the plastic templates or papers in the pieces until all the surrounding pieces are sewn together.

If you are working on your own projects on a regular basis, the plastic is fine to use, but for the swap, we need to send in the hexagon pieces WITH the papers attached.

I've been reviewing my fall project lineup...whew...I've bitten off a lot to chew (too much). I discovered that not only am I having company before Christmas, but after also...and no time to work on this before that. I have to bow out of this first swap...so glad you're going to have an ongoing one. Whoohooo!!!

I too am going to have to back out. I am just not that confident in my sewing. But will watch and might be interested in a 30's repo one, after I work a while on my own hexagon's.

I love hexie's - I will be signing up for this when it happens. Any size is good for me and stashbusting is great.

I'm not seeing much of an interest for a swap this year, but perhaps a very late winter/early spring would work.
