I'll be going to Joanns this afternoon to check out their 50% off red tag fabrics. The last time they had this sale I got lots of nice fabric for 2 and 3 dollars a yard. DH will be enjoying the football game and I'll sneak out (haha) and take a look at the fabric. I'm going on a quilting retreat next week so I'll have to be a little conservative, but that's alright. I may not find any good bargains on the retreat so I'll just get some bargains today.

Have a good time & buy some for me. Today's the day we clean out the gardens for the winter & DH says we should do something about the shed, too. Gremlins must have gotten in there & stirred things around all summer... I think that's where they hang out when they're done messing up my sewing room.

I'm going to be sewing the binding down on another UFO while watching football. DH has been busy all week so at least we will be in the same room... Go Vikings!
Good luck Owie with your shopping. Look out for the Christmas fabrics, they are 50% off. I am doing my best to stay away from there as I really need nothing!!!!!
Starry Sky I relate. Finally is cooling down enough in the morning so can get outside and do a few things. Only last about an hour which usually fills my huge trash bucket. Have to stop there till DH takes it to recycling. Works out well... ChrisThis message has been edited. Last edited by: cksvett,

Cksvett, it's amazing where it all comes from. We can fill bag after bag, and that's before the leaf raking starts!!!
I'm having a hard time concentrating on yard work because I can't find where some beads are that I'm sure I ordered last spring..... So that's all I'm thinking about -- digging in the sewing room again (instead of digging in the garden) or else giving up & re-ordering. I don't like it when tiny things go astray like that!
Back to work. I came in "to get a drink" and wash my hands. DH is going to wonder where I got to! This is much more funner than work.

Owie I was there when they opened this morning, blissfully unaware of the big sale. They had battings on sale "BOGO", so I scored two of them and a spool of my favorite Guterman thread 40%. Didn't want to spend much money either, so I left before I could be tempted any further.
You guys are the worse enablers....shame on you Owie I'm afraid there is no work that can be done in the yard,,,there are sooooo many flood warnings out here in Michigan, torrential rains for the last two days has everything floating. Wish it would float all the leaves in my yard away. I'm trying real hard to stay inside and quilt, I finally have a day off...I have not even looked at the ad in todays paper from Joann's...nope must not go out...I've missed my machine.Besides I'm copying another board members idea and it is coming out so spooky cute...

Last weekend we were in Albuquerque. While the guys watched the football game I enjoyed quilt shop hopping. I think football was invented to give us time to shop! I just had to be sure to leave room in the car for our suitcases!
Want more time to shop? Encourage DH to fish or hunt. DH is at his hunting lease this weekend since it's archery season and prepping for shooting season. Gives me lots of time alone plus DH spends enough money that he's very generous with my hobbies! LOL It all started the year we got married and he spent all our savings on flying lessons. Planes are expensive to fly! Our first major fight: I was horrified that anyone would spend all their savings on a hobby. It's the only time we've ever been without savings. Nowadays he's very happily retired because we focused on savings and being debt free.
I spent $234.00 with tax and saved $211.00. I think I did well. It was all the red tag stuff that was another 50% off. I got some gorgeous flowered cordoroy that will make backing for a nice summer wuilt without batting. I got some really nice fabric for what I paid for it. All charity quilts. And DH did not utter a word about it---I just allowed him to buy a new Ford Hybrid car this past week. He will be reminded for several years if he dare open his mouth about my spending!! I really am not a big spender. I could buy a lot more things but am frugal. Besides the last 6 weeks I have picked up 2 extra days work for each pay check---I deserve to spend. And some of it is going on the quilting retreat next Wednesday to Chambersburg, PA.
