That’s right! When it comes to hanging a quilt on a wall at Martingale, we use premade sleeves and pin them on with lots of safety pins, about every 6 to 8 inches. And nobody’s the wiser! We put inexpensive brass rods through the sleeves and then hang the rods on dowels nailed permanently to the wall. These clever dowels have been miter-cut on one end and drilled with a hole just big enough for a finishing nail to be glued in. I bet some of read that...over and over and over. LOL In my den I use curtain rods and cafe clips. I like it because I don't have to find a dowel that's king size. For the windows I have blinds now so using the rods is recycling. LOL | |||

I have a wall hanging rack that I have to use tabs on...either pinned on or buttoned on since the ends of the rod are capped. However, IMHO the BEST way to hang a quilt is to use a compression rack. No sleeves to sew (or pin) on. No tabs either. I make sleeves for my large quilts. Usually hang smaller wall ones with a dowel. Most that I have have hanging tabs on top or are incorporated into the top binding and on the back. I also have wall tabs that are screwed into the wall and have another toggle to hold the quilt tight. ~Patch We can have more than we've got, because we can become more than we are. --Jim Rohn | |||

I have never hung one of my quilts but I like the idea of pinning a premade sleeve to the quilt. My quilts are used on beds & this way the sleeve would not be a permanent attachment on the quilt. <><><> Express Your Creative Side ~~ Sew Something Today. <><><> | |||

I use various ways, but I get frustrated when my larger quilts flare out at the bottom...I used to think it was because I was a wonky quilter, but now...I think it's just from the weight... I was thinking of a dowel made to fit the quilt through sleeves on all 4 sides??
