Arggghhh! I spent $248 on my machine before COF Branson to replace the tensioner motor and the tensioner...If I remember correctly.

I've been FMQ on toddler quilts for the grands. I changed the machine out to do some sewing and the feeddog would not go back in place. WHAT NOW!

I took the bobbin case cover off so that I could see the mechanism. Awful tight place. I slid the switch watching what I could see for all the other stuff in the way. Lifted the FD...slid the switch...nothing. After the other expense, I decided I would just set this machine aside for FMQ and embroidery. AND just buy another plain ol machine (well with all the fancy stitches and stuff...)

Fuming, I talked to DH. He asked me a couple of questions and I just said, "Come look." He was only watching yet another football game and they all turn out the same...one team wins...the other team loses. Eh?! (It wasn't Texas A&M so I was safe.)

I showed it to him...told him how it should work and what I'd tried to do to get it to work...and left the room to hang up some clothes.

He fixed it - at least for now. Smile So I'm sewing away on my Chevron placemats and then want to do the tablerunner from the PJ party last month.

Then when I get another spool of thread, I'll finish the FMQ and see if everything works right afterwards. Fingers crossed...

My new machines are the same. Until I start to stitch the feed dogs don't move up. Takes a bit of faith.

I often run into those "Why isn't it ____??" (fill in the blank) moments with my machine. I can usually "fix" it with either taking a few stitches, or turning it off & turning it back on again. Beyond that, it's a call to the store, and if that doesn't work, then it's off to the repairman. Frown

You're very lucky the spectacular game-changing play that everyone will be talking about around the water cooler today didn't happen in those moments when you asked your DH to leave the TV! Eek Wink

Sherry, even my old 70's mechanical machines don't raise the feeddogs when I press the button...I have to advance the handwheel a bit.
Hope that's just a little blip on the radar for you and everything's back working...there's no time for extra hassles right now, is there?

Nope...even sewing did not work.

While it was on and they did not engage, I turned the machine off. Still did not work.
Tried sewing...did not work. In the past, the slide did not slide easily. This time it just slipped as though it had been buttered. Kind of like when light switch goes out...I guess the best way to describe it is "no resistance."

DH said he lifted and moved the feeddog forward while sliding the switch. I was just lifting the feeddog. It's not in the electronics and I know that if it's something with the slide that DH could fix it...if he could get to it...

The whole thing about it...I did the same thing I've always done. NADA.

Yes PLEASE let it be a blip and everything works fine from here on out. I'm working on Christmas right now. Then I want to dig in my containers and find my doll "skin" so that I can make DGD a baby. It's been a loooong time since I made a doll - probably 20 years! I'm most worried about painting the eyes...it's been a looooong time since I painted eyes!

Thank y'all!
