Well here she is in all of her beautiful, meticulous glory!
Sharon Schambers is truly an artist! I will treasure this quilt for many years to come, with the good L ord's will...
For those who are new to the board, a little history behind me owning this treasure. Sharon Schambers launched a new website and as you signed up for the site your name was put in the drawing for this beautiful quilt. You could tell others to sign up and they inserted the name of who told them about the site. I had over 270 entries in the drawing, if memory serves me right! My name was chosen and now the quilt resides in our home here in Henderson, NC, far away from Phoenix, AZ where she was born.
I was going to display the quilt in my quilting studio but my husband wants to have her in our bedroom. He wants to redecorate the whole room around this beautiful masterpiece! I could not refuse! I will show some photos after we get the redecorating finished, which will be early-late fall.
Marie has photos on her camera of Mrs. Schambers and myself with the quilt and I have not had the time to get any copies. Once I get those I will share them with you.
My favorite part has to be the outside borders...love those feathers! Did she use trapunto?
The face reminds me of the quilt that has been making the round at the quilt shows, "Sitting Bull"...looks like the same technique. She did a wonderful job.
Did she use painting in this quilt as well, like the eyes, etc?
I'm happy for you, T!
