Such a great feeling, isn't it? Yesterday I started cutting fabric for my next quilt - a Snake River Log Cabin by Judy Martin. Beautiful quilt and I'm using only what I have in my stash.

http://www.judymartin.com/snak...abin-blue-ribbon.cfm

Here's a picture of her version. I've decided to make mine in greens and purples since that's what I have the most of in my stash. But OMG there are a lot of pieces in that quilt. And you really have to pre-cut everything in order to keep it random. I've cut out everything now but the green (red in her quilt) 1" blocks that go in the lighter side. There are 1088 small green pieces left to cut out. I've got little boxes, rubbermaid containers and small baskets all over the place with the different colors and sizes. Absolutely NO ONE can go in my sewing room until I get a little control in there.

But I did a test block yesterday and it goes together very easily. So I'm getting back to my 1 hour a day sewing - not blazing fast, but I get them done.

YES! But there's no way I'm doing the quilt you are considering! Big Grin

I purchased fabrics for the two grandsons' ABC quilts. In addition to two different ABC sets, the one solid in each quilt will be different - but the two prints will be the same. I was very excited to find the coordinating fabrics yesterday in Hobby Lobby. SIL helped tremendously!

Man oh man, that's gorgeous, but one of those quilts where you dare not SNEEZE when everything's cut out & laid out! Eek

I'm so impatient that my favorite part of making a quilt is sewing the binding to the back at the end. Big Grin I thought quilting might teach me patience, but it seems I'm hopeless. Frown

ETA: My other favorite part of making a quilt is buying the fabrics. Wink

That's going to be a beautiful quilt. Yes, I love starting a new quilt. I am so very horrible with colors & trying to blend/match or make colors work together. That's my least favorite part of making a quilt. I love kits because the fabrics are already chosen for me & they all go so well together.

Starry Sky, send me your quilts & I'll sew the bindings on for you! Wink That's one of my favorite parts in making a quilt.

Glad you made a test block. I cut out yards and yards of beautiful fabric before stitching a block to discover a measurement was wrong. Luckily most designers now post their mistakes on their websites. My mistake was one I should have noticed. I do love Judy Martin.

Oh no, that's MY favorite part, too.....can't fool me into giving it up! LOL

But I'll be HAPPY to pick out your next quilt's fabric colors for you. Just send me your credit card...I think you're going to need about 90 yards or so... Wink

I love doing the binding - it means I'm almost finished a quilt. Plus, I love to have some handwork while I watch tv in the evening.

So I decided to spend one more hour upstairs cutting and managed to finish ALL the cutting out. Yippee!

Evelyn - thank you. I did see that and made the correction in my book, but I really appreciate you telling me - just in case.

Marlene - I think you have it all wrong. I've decided to work on my quilting bucket list - and this quilt was on it. I don't have too much time, but not enough. I'm not getting any younger. And there are LOT of quilts on that bucket list so I need to get stitching!!

I love Judy Martin quilts and can't wait to see yours done. As we say in another group I'm in, Inch by Inch.

I don't mind coming to work. But that 8 hr. wait to go home is a drag.

I love starting new ones too, but I have been good this summer break (I am a teacher)... only "new" I started is the song challenge on this board as well as scraps to treasure.... finished 3 tops so far, and worked on quilting some of the 10+ projects I have going (I hand quilt so rotate)... still have lots more quilts to finish before I get to start something new, but I did some more pinning today on a reversible one that was supposed to be my crayola entry last year, that I sent a different quilt instead.

Next one I want to do is a miniature with purple and lime green batiks, but will see! Can't wait to see pictures of yours!
