Look at my light box that my husband and I came up with! It works like a charm. The top surface is about 16x16. We were at Lowe's and I saw some outside furniture. Among it all was this side table and I knew it would be perfect. It was $20. I brought it home and my husband found an old lamp in the garage that he was able to take apart and use on my table. It's a perfect fit. So for $20 I have myself a much needed light box!!

How cool is that. After fabric stores, Lowes and Home Depot and Menards are my favorite place to hang out. I have a glass top coffee table out in the sunroom that I put a lamp under when I need to trace something.

I don't mind coming to work. But that 8 hr. wait to go home is a drag.

What a great idea, quilters are so creative!

I think I may have one of these small tables in the basement. I'll have to look for it tomorrow.

Oh look at you girlfriend, how cool is that? What a clever idea, give Don a hug for me for helping you with it...what a guy! Cool BTW I need one of these too...wonder if I can get Greg to fix up my old side table...I'll have to show him your pic...otherwise I have to wait til it's light out and I use my french door to tape stuff to to trace...doesn't work as well on a cloudy day tho! Wink

That's creative genius at work. Love how you did that. It's bigger than a normal lightbox which is terrific. The regular ones are too small for me. Give yourself a pat on the back, and hubby, too.

I use either the clear acryllic extension table I have for my old sewing machine (the machine is put away for backup only), with a fluorescent battery tube light under it.....or a glass-topped side table with a barrel lamp beneath it. Both are so much larger than those expensive light boxes.

Great idea! Wish I had seen this before I bought a light box. Just remember people before rushing to Lowes or Home Depot - there's always "garage sales", and Thrift Stores......

That should work really well...
Probably better than taping your paper to the window & tracing...
(who on earth would do that?!)

This is SO much nicer than taping or holding up to the window. Wink And it's just the right height too. Big Grin
