No kidding. I've never seen a year fly by so fast.

I'm going to bed before I get myself in a tizzy about everything that's still undone! Eek

This year seems like it was compressed into 2 months. And tommorrow is Thursday again, already yet even!!!! Good grief. My quilt magazine I got the day after Thanksgiving didn't help me any, either...it had Valentines and Easter stuff in it. Good grief...it wasn't even cold here yet then! We haven't even had winter here yet!!!!!

I can't believe Christmas is only three weeks away. How did that happen?

I know I've been on a forced hiatus from the world lately but gosh, time sure did go fast this year.

I feel like I'm just putting out fires as I go! I also wonder what happened to our good intentions from last January!

I'm a clerk in a Post Office. People keep coming in and mailing their gifts and they smile and say that they are done. Secretly, I want to smack them! LOL!! JK Smile

I know how you feel! I was in a toy store yesterday & they had a huge countdown to Christmas clock on the wall. If I could have reached the plug, I would have pulled it! Razz

You won't see me in the P.O. smiling like that. I haven't written a single card, I don't have stamps even if I did drag out the cards, and I'm nowhere up to mailing presents.

The calendar rolls over every year to January & it looks like I have all the time in the world to sew presents. This year, I actually made tea towel gifts that month! But then life started happening & every day brought some matter more urgent than sewing. And here it is December again...

Well, no matter how Grinchy we're feeling right now, we can't stop Christmas from coming. Only thing I can do about it is get my nose back on the grindstone & keep burning the midnight oil. Frown

You watch -- nanoseconds after the New Year, we'll be seeing red hearts at Joann's. It's a wonder they don't have V-Day stuff out already. Roll Eyes

I'm through sewing and am working on DGDs 2nd birthday in January. Big Grin

However, we still have one gift to go for SIL and have absolutely no idea what we are going to give him. I assigned SIL and StepS to DH. ha-ha BIG JOKE. StepS mentioned something I overheard so I handled that. I keep asking DH...what about SIL? Have you thought of anything yet? StepD said that he wants a chimenia for a house that they have a contract on with stipulation that they have to sell theirs first by December 20. So...if theirs does not sell...they don't need the chimenia (and I think StepD really wants it herself). Arggghh.

My problem is not my good intentions, it's the things I find while on track that lure me away for just a bit. You know...I can whip that out and it won't take long. HAH!!!!

Ohhhh...its not just Christmas..there are sooo many wonderful patterns for quilts, table runners, totes needle packs and sooo many wonderful fabrics to combine and techniques to try I sometimes feel like a cricket hopping from one thing to another andjust chirping....but all is well I did/have been making gift type items in between serious work so I'm okay with Christmas stuff but I'll never get all those patterns, appliques, pillow cases and doggie blankies done that are whirling around in my head....Smile

A clerk in a store I was in recently said to me,"This is supposed to be "the most wonderful time of the year", but I wonder is it really?" That gave me a pause to think, no, it really doesn't seem so, at least if you are a woman. We, I think, feel that all happiness of the season hangs on our doing everything to make the holidays perfect for everyone else. It should be bigger and better than last year. It is a "ring on the merry-go-round" that we can't grab. What happened to home-made decorations? Remember construction paper chains with glitter made by little hands on the tree? Strings of popcorn? A precious few "store bought" ornaments. The tree was just as glorious then. It just didn't seem so crazy in the old days. I think that we are going to "go back in time", and have a simplier Christmas. I am sorry for the people of China, but I am buying as little as I can that says "made in China" on it. (The candy canes to hang said Made In China on them! What's in them?) I have some construction paper that is Made in America, and our hands may be older but armed with my Made in China glue stick, we are making a chain for our tree!

Sorry, my little rant is over. Hope I didn't make anyone mad at me. Must be "the midnight oil".LOL

Ohhhhh Blue Skies, you gotta get modern, get with the program. Try something new this year, foget the paper chains. Give up that glue stick made in China.

IF I still did a tree, one of these would be on my make list. Have fun.

And if you want to try something else from the past, make your own gift tags. See the 'I know I'm losing it' thread here on the board.

On those chains I think I'd be tempted to use the spaghetti strap method, only larger strips, of course.

Last January I decided that during the year I would be on the lookout for thrift store mugs and make matching mug rugs. I would need 16 for Christmas gifts. By November I had most of the mugs I need but not a one of the mug rugs! I still need to make 8 of them.

I am going to a small retreat with quiltslots today through Sunday. I am a procrastinator in Capital letters. Yesterday I cut out a robe for my son, and 2 dresses for my GD. I refuse to pay $30 for a dress for a 7 yr. old that looks like she is standing on a street corner. Also have a king size flannel quilt cut out for my daughter & husband. I will see how much I get done. No classes at this retreat. all your own sewing. It is a great time. Did I tell you I am a PROCRASTINATOR! Merry Christmas everyone and Happy sewing!

Remember.. Jes*us is the Reason for the Season!

Me too! I don't know why anyone else can't find something for me. LOL

I don't let the pre-season hoopla stress me. I want to enjoy the holiday too! If YOU are being stressed out...omit the unnecessary, pour a glass of wine, sit down...and delegate!

I keep telling hubbs "a bolt of muslin, a bolt of muslin" and he says " I don't know what to get you for Christmas". One year I said, "a vacuum cleaner" and he thought I was joking. The toughest to get took 5 years. "a china cabinet". finally, toward the end, before I got it, I would answer EVERY question he asked me with, "china cabinet". "What are we having for dinner?" "China cabinet".

This year, I have to have a new scanner/printer.It died the week I found out my Visa had been compromised, My check was on Jay Leno, and I won the Ugly Fabric Lotto! what a week! I use it more than my car!!!! I told him directly that is what I have to have. Period. I have to copy my quilting stuff!!!!

He'll probably get me a bolt of muslin.

I got an electric hedge trimmer for Mother's Day one year, but it was what I wanted & asked for! Sometimes the message DOES get thru.

And Nancy, you obviously aren't being direct enough. lolll Good luck. I've listened to my kids tell me year after year that their spouse doesn't get them what they want so last year I made a point of telling DDIL#1 what DS wanted. He still didn't get it. lollll

Back to my sewing machine, btw.
