I have been trying to think of something new and fun to do for a quilt challenge and my mind keeps going to The Wizard Of Oz for some reason!! I keep saying over and over, You're Not In Kansas Anymore Toto!! Too funny!!

So... this is going to be our next quilt challenge!

You will be creating a quilt that reflects the movie "The Wizard Of Oz"!!

It is going to be so interesting to see the creations that come out of this challenge! The opportunities to do so many unique and clever designs is endless!

Your quilt is your creation... NO rules as to how to create it... only that it HAS to be a quilt/wallhanging and it must be at least 36 inches square.

Photos of these will be due to me by December 28 and I will have them ready to show on the forum on New Years day, 2013. That gives you almost 3 whole months to make your quilt.

And as always... There will be PRIZES!! Smile

So, who wants to play?

I was in town the other day and got mad about something that isn't like it is in Alabama.. I am still spoiled to the way things are where I am from. People are kinder and throw their hands up when you pass on the road... I always tell myself... "You're not in Kansas any longer Toto" when I get ill about things around here.

So when I started thinking about this challenge, those words came to my mind and I said WHY NOT! Just like needlecrazy did! ha! Smile

City Sandie and LisaTX.. Ya'll need to quit "thinking" and jump in and 'do!". Smile

And sister sue.. Talk that sister of yours in to joining.. Ya'll just can't work on your quilts together...but you could taunt each other.. lol

Hi Q!
I want to play. I am sick of using my brain for school....ugh...I need creativity in my life, too. I adore that movie and would LOVE to challenge myself to a quilt.
Now when my professor is droning on about statistics, I will picture him as the Mayor of the Munchkin City.....

Q, Sue and I don't need competition to taunt each other. LOL. Seriously, Sue is really excited about doing this and it would be really hard for me to know that she is making something and I won't be able to put my two cents in. When is the deadline to sign up?? Just might be thinking about it anyhow. Pat

Would love to make a new piece for this challenge but right now I am booked...thanks though to our dear Miss Q for constantly coming up with fun things for us to play!

Love this movie. So many symbols and messages. A favorite of mine is:

“A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others”
― L. Frank Baum, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

It'll be fun thinking and dreaming on this one. Don't they always show this on New Years Day? I remember how surprised I was when we got a color TV set. Now they use tge idea of black and white photography on commercials and political ads.

J Lu, I didn't join the challenge, you could send me a pm with a picture and I promise I won't tell a soul. Shhhhhh, can't wait to see what you all come up with. I know Sue grabbed a piece of fabric out of my stash, but I don't know what it looked like--she took it while I was out talking to DH. Now I don't know if that is legal or not, maybe I'll report her to the "Quilt Police" LOL We actually share our stash taking what we need for our projects so it works out in the end.

I had a great idea a little while ago. Yeah, right. I thought the theme was Alice in Wonderland. Where in the world is my head?

Okay, back to the drawing board.

Well T it's looking like its going to stop at 8. More prizes for us right girls. I had to put it on hold for a minute. I've been trying to get a baby quilt started for my friend that decided to go with a 2 year old theme. I can't find the fabric so I'm winging it. She's using that sweet pea theme. Any ideas out there. I was going to appliqué a baby in a pea sitting on a trailing vine of sweet peas. I hate when I can get started. I think I'm depressed.
