The other day a 'free pattern' Marion posted was called 'Garden Song'. It wasn't the best quilt I've seen posted from that site. Colors were wrong or something. And why were there stars in a garden when birds were flying around. Yeah, I know, star flowers.
I knew it had to have some merit so I played with the basic pattern and I still didn't get it right. Don't have the right fabrics in my virtual fabric palette I guess. But here is how I interpreted that pattern. It really is a neat pattern once you take the fabrics away.

...Paus that is amazing - and since we 'bad mouthed' it the other day I'm really impresed taht you made it so pretty - I too like the brown one with the bear paws - or is that leaves .. anyway, NOW Ilike it : so did you keep the pattern for us?

You know, Sandie, I looked at that and reminded myself that we don't always hit the mark and someone spent a lot of time and had some pride in that piece. I think it was just tooooo busy so I kinda cleaned it up a bit. I hope the designer/quilter will forgive me.

The Autumn one is my favorite. And they are maple leaves. You can put anything you want in those squares. Several patterns were tried but I liked the leaves.
The Xmas ones are nice too. I love both the tree patterns.
Thinking about the pinwheel effect I went back and tried it and the only one I liked it with was this one.
.... I really enjoy how the many creative minds go to work and come up with some of the lovliest projects. One woman's scrap bin is another woman's treasure chest!
