I am teaching a group of American Heritage Girls to sew, and some mothers are asking about beginner machines for gifts for their girls. Around the 100-150.00 range. Do they exist, of good quality? Let me know which ones you like!

Thanks so much,
Sandra

In my opinion, you can't go wrong with the Janome Gem series or Janome Magnolia. Watch for sales. I got one for DGD for $99 a couple of years ago.

My LQS longarm quilter bought a My Little Kitty Janome sewing machine on sale for $80 for her DGD. She said it was so much better than the cheaper Bernina machines.

I used someone's Janome Gem machine at retreat, and fell in love with it.

I bought Precious a mini Janome to start with when she was about 5 ... and she used it up to this year, when she graduated to my Brother 6000. It was a GREAT teaching tool, ran great, gave her confidence, and does 8 stitches ... straight stitch and zig zag... AND it's very affordable... I got it on sale at Hanc0ck's for $ 39 ... sometimes they go down that low, or usually on sale for $ 49. I highly recommend it!

I bought a Brother for around $100.00 for my third grandson when he was 7. He has used it hard and it still sews. There are days when he sew 5-6 hours a day. It is 3 years ol and still going strong. I am not sure if I bought it online or at Walmart.
