I was watching PBS...an English show with Judy Dench...they were in bed, discussing something (who cares??!) and getting in and out and tossing the lovely quilt on the bed. I kept yelling at them to "stop!", "hold up that corner", "no! don't go to the door!" grrrrrrrr..."fold that out so I can see it!!!"...sigh... I want to see that quilt again! It looked like an American quilt...never thought of them liking American stuff...we like English so well. Wonder if I can find it on line???

Sometimes you wonder what the set designer had in mind when choosing a quilt. Do they care about it or it's just another homey prop.

my philosophy: there are no real mistakes in quilting, just design opportunities!!

It sure made the scene in the bedroom pop. It was a washed quilt too... lumpy in the right places, not smooth....tossed well on the bed, you could see the lines where the stitches were...the rest of the room didn't show up at all! Just the actors and the quilt...their robes were plain, no wallpaper I could see. Just that incredibly striking quilt! well, and Judy Dench...

Nancy was it a movie or TV series? I know you said PBS...was it a Britcom?

We all need to keep paper and pen beside our chairs so that we can make notes of the quilts we see on TV. I saw one the other day and while I don't remember the show now, I do remember the "warm fuzzies" the quilt represented to me. Wink

I think it's As Time Goes By. I've seen glimpses of the quilt, but never enough to figure out the pattern. Lovely faded and comfy quilt.

On my TV, it looks a lot more faded than it does in these pictures. I guess my TV is older than the quilt. Wink

What a beautiful quilt, nativeTexan!!! That's one to remake, too!!! Smile

Baby Boom has some good looking quilts in it...and a remake of Christmas in Connecticut does too. Love the one in You've Got Mail...

I agree with nancy you guys ARE good! I sat for a while googling and ended up thinking I'd like to see the show... but couldn't find any free videos....now that I see the quilt I can see why you like it. I have a ton of red and whites here that would be really fun...any idea what size those blocks might be? I was thinking 10" finished.
Was even thinking wouldn't it be fun to do a scrappy pinwheel block swap? Then everyone could make one! Smile
ETA: I've been googling for quilts in Movies and lookie what I found....

Yes! I thought I remembered that there was a quilt that I liked in When Harry Met Sally. It's Windblown Tulips, applique.
