I replaced my Ott light bulb, nothing, took it back got another, nothing! The light is only 3 or 4 years old. A floor model. I am not going to spend over 100 bucks for a light that only lasts that long. I know others have found lights that work great and last.
What are they again??

Sorry to hear you're having problems. Check the cord and make sure its still attached well. There may be a short somewhere. I've had my floor ott light for years and it still works like a charm. In fact, wish I had another one for another room so I don't have to haul this heavy thing around.

.... I know this sounds like an obvious .... didyou check the plug in? Did you check it at the store before you left with another one?
My OTT light is at least 7 years old and still working like a charm, it sits between my chair and my sewing area and is used probably 6 days out of 7. The replacement bulb is still in the package ... at this rate they will last until i need 2 lamps at the same ti me!!!!

hahaha 2 of the 3 hair dryers in our 'suite' in Branson didn't work - WQC figured it out - they weren't plugged in ... yes I am a natural blonde but that is not my excuse.. I am gray now.

another thing to check is.. make sure that the outlet that it's plugged into isn't the one that is on the wall switch.. (and it's not flipped to off).. or.. if it's plugged into a outlet strip that someone hasn't flipped the switch at the outlet... ask me how i know..lol... i was ready to throw mine out when i realized the switch had been flipped to off.. (it's never flipped to off.. lol).. i too have a floor model and LOVE it.. it's gotta be about 8 years now and going strong.. and i use this one for hours and hours just about every day.. i have a few of the portable ones too.. but i don't use them nearly as much..

Thanks all, going to check to see if I might have cut the cord! I did check the wall switch, I do understand that Shey, done that a few times with other things. lol
It is stretched behind a shelving unit, so need to move stuff!

Another thought, does the switch work normally? I've had a switch go bad on a lamp and just the switch part was replaced to make the lamp good as new. Do you have a "fix-it" person who can check it out for you?

My ott floor lamp, I used to have to lift the bulb up in order to get it to turn on. My DH did something with the little metal prongs that hold the bulb - he said very carefully/easy or you can break it. He squeezed the two metal pieces from the base that the end of the bulb slips in.

I don't know if I explained that right.

Try lifting your bulb when you try to turn it on, you will hear the click and then it will flicker on. If your bulb does that, you need to squeeze the metal bracket/prongs in the actual lamp head - after it's unplugged! Then put your bulb in, turn on to see if that solved your problem.

I don't have problems anymore with mine.
