I use W&N with my quilts and have it long arm quilted.

But now I am beginning a throw for our 18 yr. old GD with Jane Sassaman fabrics, mostly black and some purple and lime green. Roll Eyes I've never used black batting or polyester batting, so...I am wondering if anyone has experience with this. Looking on line I think I would go with Quilters Dream Poly Black and pick the medium loft - called select.

ADDED: Got an answer from my long armer.

YES I have used black, and I love it for anything really dark .. I used cotton not poly though... and quilters dream is wonderful batting.
My Christmas strings quilt some years ago has a lot of black in the back and border, and the blocks are all dark and bright, and not one bit of batting has even shown thru, but if it did you wouldn't see it!... you will like it.

If you are going to have this quilted on a long arm, ask the quilter which loft of batting works well with her machine. I know that some LA quilters have said that there is a particular loft that doesn't work well for LA quilting.
