Have you seen the 1600 inch style quilts? You would just cut those receiving blankets into long strips of equal width (2.5 or 3 inch or so) then sew end to end to have one extremely long strip. Fold that long strip in half & sew together (on the long sides) & you will have a shorter strip but it will be wider of course. (cut it where it meets) Continue in that manner till you have the quilt the size you want it to be.

...or you could just cut the receiving blankets into squares, (of a size you would be comfortable working with) and mix them up and sew them together.

Do you want to preserve the blankets as keepsakes in a quilt, or do you just need to think of some way to use them? How about making some into teddy bears? Otherwise, I might use the blankets as quilt backing.

Hi Jan, just a suggestion - but if you put a bit more info in your thread title about your project - you will reach a wider reading group - and you KNOW we quilters love to 'help" Smile
I'm with Miss Lens ... but them into strips for a 1600 or squares for a 'raggedy' // those get a lot of use! have fun!
