Have to take DGS to the high school today for his physical fittness test for Young Mar ines, they are like the Boy Scouts club. After that is over I think I will just have a day to sew and do nothing else. That sounds like a lot of fun to me. I have not had one of those days lately. So, what are you up to today?

Recently I've been in my sewing room just enough to add to the mess. You know, walk in & set something down, lol. Today we work at the old house.

I hope to sew at least a little-I am afraid the "have-to's" will get in the way though.

Have fun for me too in your sewing room.

After food shopping, cat pan changing and supper preparing, I am DEFINITELY going to finish the binding on the bed runner I started last fall. When I get to this stage on a project I can't wait to be done. The thing grew and grew.. is nearly twin sized now.. but will keep the cats off the king sized comforter.

I have a bunch of paperwork to do helping my DSIL with the silent auction that is next Saturday to raise money for my nephew's memorial fund. I'm also doing laundry today but by mid afternoon, I hope to start cutting the fabric for DGD's quilt. By evening I'll be ready to do a little handwork - I have both embroidery and applique projects that I'm working on.

I'm going to a second day of the Prairie Quilt Show in Wichita KS. About 700 quilts and I just couldn't take it all in yesterday.

I'll post photos later on, for those of you who haven't been to a show lately. Big Grin

Wish I'd thought to post earlier, to see if any other quilt buddies from the board might be heading this way. I'd have been fun to meet up there. Kansas_gal might be coming, but we'd talked about that last winter. Next time, I'll give more warning, ok?

Bozie, 2 years ago I was impressed with the number of minis at this show...Haven't seen that many so far this time. There are lots of applique quilts.

Navy Wife and I were outside working on our respective projects earlier. She doing applique work and I was sewing blocks for a quilt. Then some nasty looking clouds came up and we figured we'd better get things inside. I'll probably sew some more in a bit, but inside. It's cooled off some with the clouds.

I had company yesterday for lunch and games. Got my fridge cleaned out just to so there'd be room for more. Yummo!

Owie, with all the new fabrics you've bought recently you need to take some time at that sewing machine! LOL You've tempted many of us to buy too much also. But I did get some cut into strips and sewn into a jelly roll race quilt. I love it so much I'm making another one now. I'm going to sit down and calculate the number of strips that's ideal for my king size bed. I think I'll be sewing three sets but got to run the numbers first. LOL DH is at his hunting lease so I've got the weekend off. No chores either since I had company Friday. I did my cleaning to prepare for them. I try to have guests over often enough to keep dust from piling up too high. LOL

I was going to sew today and the our son in Duluth, MN called to tell us that his basement was waist deep in water from the gigantic flood. (10 inches of rain in 20 hours and the city is built on a hillside) So, instead, we cleaned the silt out of two basements (he has a rental property), scrubbed, washed silt off of everything and just kept moving. We are back home and I'm heading for the laundry and a little relaxation!

Did not get as much sewing done today as I thought I would but that's alright. Spent a lot of time with DGS and that is more important than sewing. Everytime I sat down to handsew I fell asleep. I worked 12 hours yesterday and it wiped me out.

Well no sewing yet for me-but I am tired-had the three grandbabies (Ages 6, 3 and 1) for a few hours so Mommy could go spend her birthday money by herself. Took them home and all three fell asleep on the way home (only 10 minutes)and slept while I carried them in.

But somethings are more important. :-)

My day didn't turn out quite as planned either. My paperwork and laundry took longer than expected, then I changed the dinner menu and that took more time. Clarissa's quilt will have to wait - I'm no longer in the mood to cut.

Lois, I'm so sorry to hear of your son's misfortune. Is everyone okay? Has it quit raining?

Lois, what a mess. Saw the pictures on TV and felt so sorry for everyone. Hope DS doesn't have lasting damage.

I stayed off the computer and got some sewing done. Cut more backs and the batting for the fun and done string quilt I am working on. Have those about half done. Still need to cut 5 more battings before I can finish the blocks. Started this a long time ago, so it is good to get more progress done on it.

Raining today compliments of "Debby". We are on the back side of her and it is wet. Not complaining as we so need the rain. Plan to sew most of the rest of the day. Will make a quick trip to Joanns to check out what is in the clearance items. They so rarely put 50% off the regular red tag items... Chris

Sunday...today I'm going to do a little sewing! Our Duluth family had some personal loss but are fortunate that it was only basement flooding (came up from the floor drains) and the water did not last more than a few hours. The water heater did restart and they will not try to restart the furnace for a month. It likely is a loss. Structurally everything looks good. It could have been worse. Sometimes it is a good thing to clean, sort, and purge!

Aunt Reba...love your dress...I am currently in the "sewing my own" clothes mode after several fruitless shopping trip to cloth myself for work. I have made a shirt so far(which I will wear) and am in the process of making a cotton suit type jacket. All my Patterns(1973-1996) and fabrics are literally from my stash. I don't have much cotton stretch knit type fabrics in my huge quilting stash but am trying a couple of items to see if I can actually make something I will wear...

Aunt Reba....So if you are making dresses where do you get your fabrics from???? I did check out our Joanns...but was not excited by their inventory....
