Sew & Tell is our weekly sharing thread. Tell us what you've finished, what you're working on. We're here to cheer you on! I'm starting this early because my internet at work hasn't been working well this week, and I start it there. Have a great weekend everyone! Holly

Well I have all the baby batik blocks done. Just have to wait before i can crawl around the floor to put it together. I could clean off my table but what fun would that be LOL. I have PT every Mon and Wed starting next week so I probably won't feel like crawling on the floor anyway. I can how ever post the last 4 blocks.

No quilting but I did work on some decorations for a friend's Halloween party. I decided to embroider them and it's been fun. Got to find more frames. I've finished six altogether. Need to find some plastic spiders to put with EEK! Here's the first two. This message has been edited. Last edited by: EvelynB,

Here's two more signs. I did get twenty block embroidered for a block swap for Halloween also. Got me in the mood to decorate. Plus the weather is cool and rainy. Haven't seen this rain in a couple of years. Yeah!!This message has been edited. Last edited by: EvelynB,

I was a happy camper when I started this little quilt because I had a name for it even before I started cutting fabric. It was to be similar to the "Tennessee Waltz" design but have more complex blocks in place of the usual "Snowball" blocks to give the appearance of smaller dancers between the larger ones. Was going to make it in Christmas colors and call it "Christmas Waltz". Unfortunately I lost the circular motion of the traditional TW design somewhere along the way. Don't know if it is because of my less than perfect piecing or the placement of values or something else. I called it "Christmas Waltz" anyway. LOL ![]()

Fun Halloween pictures! Beautiful Martha! I just love your mini's! so creative and color choices are always spot on!
|
Bozie - you made me laugh when I read you had a name before you started the quilt! I know that sometimes that is the hardest part of this process for you! LOL! Beautiful quilt and it will fetch a lot for AAQI! Evelyn - I never purchased the embroidery unit for my machine, but when I see what you do with yours, you get me thinking about it. I just love those Halloween decorations! I posted my project on the Stashbusters thread, but I decided to put it here too. It's just about 12", but it took me as long as the little quilt I did last week!

I don't have an embroidery machine at all, and most of the time that's fine. But when I see little goodies like Evelyn's, I get real envious. Those things are just SO cute. Bozie -- what can I say?? www.floridafarmgirlsworld.blogspot.com Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.

Little quilt top (38x43) made from 3.5 x 5.5 bricks of novelty fabrics already cut in my stash. The Mickey Mouse fabric will be the backing. Karen ![]()

Lots of nice projects ladies!! I love them all. Now my dad - who shows up with some of the strangest things just dropped this off for me to see if I could use. It's brown leather with some really thick liner material. I'm thinking a tote bag with the bottom 2 inches in leather and the top in some bright canvas print. Maybe I'll have something to show for next friday. MarjThis message has been edited. Last edited by: mw8930, ![]()

Here's a glimpse of a customer quilt I worked on this week. I hope you can see the texture from the quilting. (The top is an original design.)

• • • Bozie, it's still beautiful and I believe it is your color placement. If you would have reversed your background, the illusion of circles would have appeared. I finished my COF challenge but, that's about it for actual sewing this week. Tomorrow I will start quilting my scrap challenge. It's due on the 29th, and then the Quilt Show will start on the 30th. If you are interested in seeing some peeks of what we've been up to these last five months, come visit us at • Seventh Annual Scraps to Treasures Challenge • Peek Time. Just scroll through the pages to see all the wonderful and different peeks. Matter of fact, miss Lori put together a little montage for you. Dont' know why the photo isn't showing. Let me try again. .This message has been edited. Last edited by: jayardi, ▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲ Life without quilting is not an option! • • • • • MY Photos • • • • • • ENJOY! Everyone is doing such a great job this week with their projects. Lumpy ~ I can't wait to see that baby quilt finished. It's going to be so pretty. Evelyn ~ You did a great jog on your Halloween signs. I don't have an embroidery feature on my machine but I sure like what can be done with one. Martha ~ What a lovely little mini. How do you do it? Do you just make up the patterns before you start or do you have a book w/TONS of mini patterns? It's such a treat to see your new quilts each week. WQFC ~ Your little mini is just adorable. I love your frame & want to get me one some day to display a small quilt every now & then. May ~ Your lap quilt is so cute & colorful. Someone is going to love to get that one. Marj ~ That leather would make a fantastic tote. I'm wanting to make a wheel chair tote & that would be perfect. Seeing Stars ~ That is a such a pretty quilt & I love the colors. Your cusomer sure has an artist's eye. The quilting is perfect & beautiful. Jean ~ Those Scraps to Treasures peeks are so interesting. Y'all sure make some beautiful quilts each year with your annual challenge. I can't wait to see the finished quilts each year. I've just been doing some mending this week...nothing fun. Just finished quilting this lap quilt using Leah Day's FMQ Project videos! The quilting isn't perfect, but to me, it gives it a vintage look which I like! The pattern for the quilt is called Star Wishes and comes from a book- More Laps from F/Qs (although instead of F/Qs, I used stash pieces that were 7-1/2" x WOF!) pat ![]()

Neat items this week again. Seems like forever since I did any sewing, just has been two weeks!!! Who would believe my first thing to do would be a project dumped on me by a coworker!?!??? She got new drapes and had two sets of panels that needed to be sewed together. Did what I suggested she do when she found out custom drapes would be $6,000 installed. Not a sewer, she tried to sew them together and it didn't work out. Actually ended up being quite easy, just put in a denim needle and butted the edges together and sewed. The drapes were 57x98. Hope this is okay. If not, will serge the edges off and join them this way... Chris

Just finished up this surprise for Sister Sue, hope she likes her new mini ironing board. I made it with batting, towels, cookie sheet, duct tape and muslin. The outer cover is cotton. I believe that it will work out just fine. ![]()
|
Oh my, SisterSue is going to LOVE that mini ironing board. If she takes it to classes, etc. there will never be a chance of her not knowing which one belongs to her. Nicki We live in the home of the free...because of the brave.

Thanks Nicki, I think I'm pretty lucky too to have a sister who enjoys my hobby. She loved it, gave it to her this morning so it goes with her stuff and I won't have as much as she will. LOL

Just popping in to say what wonderful work everyone! Phenomonal. I don't always spell that right but it's the right thing to say. Anyhow, that ironing board fabric would make an incredible One Block Wonder-just to nudge you to try it! Ha! It's a LOT of piecing.
