I have several vintage machines that don't have a FM foot. Thought of trying one of these Spring Needles. What are your thoughts, can it be used for FM?

I used one once and it broke. I had gotten severalfrom a discount bin at the sewing store for that purpose. I haven't tried it anymore. I bought the proper foot for quilting after that.

Far as I know free motion is what these things are made for. My fingers threatened to pack their little bags and leave home if I tried to use spring needles. Wink

Just kidding, sort of. Besides, needles last only so long.

If it were me I'd get a free motion foot for the machine and then use regular quilting needles in a size appropriate for the thread I was using.

I didn't think about the needles breaking....that would become quite an expense at $4 and $5 a needle.

Thank you for your input!
