Welcome to the 2012 Stashbusting Thread.

I am Gonesewin and I will be starting a new thread for each month for everyone to post pictures (If at all possible) or tell about your stashbusting efforts. It does NOT have to be quilting! This can be any kind of sewing!

There are just 2 rules to join us: what you make make should be mostly from stash and it should be finished during the month you post it as finished. There are no signups, or swapping or... Just this thread. Everyone is welcome!

cksvett has graciously volunteered to send out surprises each month. Your name will be entered each month when you show or tell us about your stashbusted project. On the first of the month when I start a new thread, someone from my family will draw a name and the winner will be posted on that new thread. If your name is drawn please send your mailing information to cksvett so your surprise can be mailed to you.

New This Year Royalboomer has graciously volunteered some of her "extras" as prizes too! So what I am going to do is this: Those who finish bigger projects or do multiples of 5 smaller items from stash will also be put into a separate drawing and one will be awarded a prize from Royalboomer each month!

Cool Beans, huh?

SEW, let the stashbusting continue!

This month's STASHBUSTERS are:

Florida Farm Girl
Will Quilt for Chocolate
gardenpat
Meme quilts
Marion2
nlk
Jayardi
AngelaC
cksvett
Miss Lensews2
AuntJo

Here's the finished quilt from the top I made last week (all stash!) for the little preemie who was born last week and is now home! I'm giving it to them today!

Do NOT count this as a September stashbuster since I showed the quilt top after I put it together last week (August).

Thought I'd let you see that I did get it finished and that it won't just be taking up space with my UFOs! (that is- if you're interested! Wink )

ok, you aren't in (yet) for September. That's a cute quilt. You added the boarder since you showed it last time, didn't you? Or am I remembering wrong?

Okay, its not much but at least something is done!! This quilt TOP is done. Now it'll go on the "to be quilted" pile for who knows how long. I got tired of looking at the poor thing on the board so I put the borders on it tonight. All from stash -- jelly roll in the stash for several years before taking it to retreat and doing the strips there; more stash for the appliqued flower; more stash for the borders.

And, yes it is squared up. I just can't hang it straight on the wall. Smile

I have done all of my 61 blocks for the signature swap from stash. The only thing I bought was the pen to sign them. I'll post a pic later. I don't think we are suppose to post pics of the blocks until after retreat.

Finally have something finished! This stashbuster is called Star Wishes from a book- More Laps from F/Qs! Instead of F/Qs I used 7-1/2" x WOF stash pieces! Why use my nice F/Qs when I still have drawers full of useable scraps?!! Wink

FMQ'd it! Not wonderful work, but I'm getting better at it and I like the vintage look! Still love that 505 spray!!

SO, again I cut up an old swim suit cover up that looks sorta like muslin and made a kitchen towel out of the back of it. I did the simple embroidery while watching tv because I didn't have any embroidery projects going. Well, I entered it in the fair this past weekend and it got a FIRST place ribbon!! Talk about STASH for CASH!!!! Yea!

I can't believe that the month of September is half gone & I haven't been here on my favorite thread yet. Been a busy couple of weeks but soon things should settle down & I can get back to doing what I love to do - use up some stash.

Love the projects shown especially the quilts, big and small. Marion - love your little ribbon winner too.

Received it today!!! I was looking for the August thread but I will post it here now. Thank You Chris, I love everything you sent. Chris sent me a lovely mixture of pink; a color I did not have much of by the way, so I instantly loved it all. She also enclosed 2 books - one is a design book of patterns & inspiration called "The Quilted Table" that hasthe cutest project ideas in it. The other was the Sept/Oct McCalls quilting magazine & this is the best magazine I have seen in a long time & I mean it. Filled with great quilts that are not hard to do because of the great instructions.

I don't know if Chris noticed this or not but on the back cover there is a pink ribbon quilt that would be perfect for the assortment of pinks she sent me. Thank you so much Chris, you are a real sweetheart sending out these great prizes. If my name should get picked for September please put it back & pick someone else - I want someone else to know this joy of getting a great gift in their mailbox like I did today. Well worth waiting for Chris, thanks. Smile

Miss Lensews2, am so glad the package finally arrived. I forget that it seems to sit in customs for about a week!

I think it is better to post in the current thread, rather that go back to the previous months.

Always nice to hear what you send is liked. I try to fit the package as much as I can to the person I am sending to. thought since you said you liked doing baby quilts, these fabrics would work... Chris

I FINALLY got something made this month. It's a walker tote for my co-worker's mom who uses a walker all the time. I really enjoyed making it & am please with the way it finished up. Everything is stash...including the blue jeans that I used for the main bag. It took me a long time to make as I re-vamped the pattern some & I have never made one before.

My son asked me last night if I would make something for him. I was surprised when he told me what he wanted. He asked me to make him a clothes pin bag. He said he was tired of trying to hold all the clothes pins in his hands.

I whipped this up for him right away. Finished it today. It was quick and easy as I had everything I needed in my stash. It's good to see that scrap of heavy duck fabric gone from the cupboard & now I know why I was holding onto that scrap of bias binding.

All he has to do is insert a clothes hanger. There is a hole at the top for the hanger hook to come out of.

It was nice to get away from sewing those pillows with zippers for awhile. I now have 2 completely finished, but did not use any of my stash for those.

Lori - it is a table topper. It goes together pretty quickly. And the bonus is, it's not difficult! You just have to have a 9 degree wedge ruler. The pattern is called Spicy Spiral Table Runner.

With all the fabric she sent, I'll have to do something or my stash will be bigger now than it was before I did the siggy blocks.
