Younger DB is twice-single again. He called today and was going to a "lady friend's" house for supper. She's evidently a really good cook. They've been to Texarkana a time or two to hear someone DB knows sing.

THEN he tells me who she is. A GF from when he was 14!! Story is...she was 16 and our DDad put his foot down that his 14-year old son was NOT going to date a 16-year old girl.

So...the folks are out of town. We (16, 15, and 14 years old) have had the "law laid down." No one leaves the county. Well...the 14-year old did. On his motorcycle. And trying to get back before curfew, he took out a curve on a blacktop (asphalt-type) road country road. Good thing his wallet was in one pocket. Bad thing that he didn't have a wallet in the other pocket. He was scraped, scratched, and gouged.

Aunt met him and older DB at the hospital. Doctor sent him home and told older DB to wake him every hour.

YEARS later...older DB told how. He poked him in the ribs with a baseball bat, reaching across the space between their twin beds! Saying as he was poking him, "Don't you die on me you &*^%#%!@#. Daddy'll kill me too."

He pert near did, too! LOL

As they got older (and Daddy's sense of humor got better because he was no longer legally responsible Wink ) you would not believe the stories they told!

Which reminds me. I am in possession of the older-woman-dater's quilt top our GGM made him. I need to get some old fabric to add a border and get it quilted one day. (Just to keep this on topic.) Big Grin

That's hilarious! How wonderful that they found each other. Those two years would hardly be a second now. As a parent though don't you hate it when the siblings get together and laughingly confess their misbehaving. I recently found out that my son regularly skipped Sunday School and took his offering money to the convenience store down the street to play Mario! No wonder he asked for extra quarters. My angelic faced conartist!

My 48 and 53 year old DSs do pretty good at scaring me, but the prize goes to 55 year old DD. How she ever survived is a miracle...if only I had known!

I have very few stories. The few times I tried something...I got caught. Being middle child, living in a small town, brothers' friends all over town. Well...I didn't have a chance to be bad. LOL

I learn new stuff about my angel-faced hubbie every time we're with a group of people and he tells a story.

One was the time he and his brother almost burned down the house when they found their baby clothes in a chest and decided to see which burned better...the cotton items or the wool. Eek

We allowed our "perfect" DD to have some fellow senior friends over while we were out of town for the night. Promkises were made and we came home to a beautifully spit-and-polished home and thought "what good girls they are". At their senior convocation, the results of an opinion poll were made public and "food fight at H's" ranked number one by both girls and boys as favorite time AND best party! Before and after photographs later came to light. Yes that is coleslaw hanging from the light fixture, Mom.

The first time we let our oldest DD take our car to a night game, She brought the car home and said that the lights would not dim. My DH went out to check the lights, he came back in and said that he didn't know how she drove it home The only thing that worked were the head lights.
Her car had the dimmer switch on the floor and our car had the dimmer switch on the steering collum. She stommped the beegeebes out of the fuse pannel. The next day my DH had to dig all the fuses out and replace all of them.

Oh, these tales are hysterical. How did our kids manage to survive to adulthood?

I'm not sure how Mine survived and by all accounts they were good kids. But I'm hearing stories now that are curling my straight hair.

My DD made her first solo driving trip yesterday to and from band practice. When I arrived to pick up my younger DD and a friend, I couldn't find the other car. Hmmmmm. Did she loose it already? No, it was in the teacher's lot far, far away from the other student vehicles. She didn't want anyone to watch her park.
