2013 Ami Simms will be wrapping up the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative. I would challenge us all to try and make a quilt or buy one this year. They are trying to reach 1 million by end of the year.
I'm not qualified to speak for the organization but - I think that while they are really grateful for each and every quilt they have received and will welcome more of them, it seems that at this point buying little quilts is probably more useful than sending more to them.

I was reading that last night. Even though they have a number of them on the site right now in the "buy it now" category, they are still running the monthly auctions and looking forward to the opportunity to sell again at the Houston Quilt Festival. They sell oodles of them there, and I look forward to buying there every year .
I agree, let's help them get to the goal of one million big ones!
I tried to buy one of yours, but your unsold ones dont seem to be available, is this because they are scheduled for auction?
What will you do next, now that they are closing down? It must have been very satisfying to be a part of an organization that gives out all the money it receives, and not just a percentage.

It's possible that one or more of them will be included in the February auction but I think it's more likely they will just be put up for sale on the website. I say that because there are currently about 360 quilts on the "Waiting for Assignment" list and it looks as if there is to be just one more auction of 26 regular Priority :Alzheimer's quilts. That will be Feb 1 - 10. After that the auctions will be either for the quilts that are now in the traveling exhibit or the celebrity quilts in the November auction.
