Anyone interested in doing a "Celebrate Summer" PC swap?

Sign ups will go until June 20. After that I will send everyone's names and addresses out. Depending on how many sign up will depend on how many you will send out & will back. I'm thinking of groups of 5 but if you want to make fewer just let me know. All pc's must be sent out between June 1 & June 10 so they will be received by June 20, the first day of summer

Rules:
1. Let us know on this thread you want to join
2. Send me a PM with your board name, real name, mailing address and how many cards you are willing to make/receive (up to 5)
3. All cards MUST be pieced or appliqued. It is NOT acceptable to just find a "summer" fabric, use it as a front and sew it to a batting and back.
4. You may make all your cards the same, all different or any comination of the 2...
5. Cards may be mailed in an envelope, clear plastic sleeve, or simply tossed in the mail. PLEASE make sure to us the correct ammount of postage.
6. I don't know this first hand but I have been told that cards must have "Post Card" written on them in the top center to be mailed...do it just to be sure please.
7. Please don't send your card out until June but PLEASE make sure they have time to get to the recipient by the first day of summer, June 20.
8. If, for some reason your card doesn't make it to the intended swapper you will be asked to make and send a replacement. So be sure to make sure it won't fall apart, don't have any embellisments hanging off if not sent in an envelope, and make sure to use enough postage - fabric pcs require more than a regular pc...
9. Remember - this is a "Celebrate Summer" PC swap so keep the theme in mind when making your cards.

I've been working so much [getting ready for inventory] and haven't had time to make mine yet...hopefully I can on my next day off [wed]. Will post when I mail them.

Got my first one today from Lori. My first thought was sherbet ice cream when I saw it then read your posts. We think alike! Thank you do much. It's now hanging on my fridge to impress visitors.

Hi Evelyn, Yes, great minds think alike! I love watermelons so it was a no-brainer for me to do the card. I use a fuseable and then stitch over it in addition to the fuse for the bining.

Your "melon" was very cute and I say thank you.

I hope to work on mine later today or tomorrow....there never seems to be enough hrs in the day to do everything I WANT to do...have things planned time-wise and it never works out...seems my job always gets in the way....lol!!

I was working on mine yesterday....then the phone rang...YUP! called into work! See what I mean...best laid plans never work out. LOL!!!

But I've got a good start on them and they are turning out really cute...different from something I've ever done!! ;]

I hit the jackpot in my mailbox, three pcs.

Sew Fun!

I'll be mailing mine tomorrow...got up early and finished them up b4 work today, then I had my quilt guild meeting so didn't have time to get to the PO to mail them today. BUT they are ready to go!! [still need stamps though...lol]

eta: I showed them at my guild's show & tell and everyone loved them & thought they were cute!! I so want to post a pic but will wait til ya'll receive them!

I mailed mine today...had to pay 20c extra cause he said he had to hand canceled them.....I could of done it but he wouldn't let me...lol!! IF I had stamps I would've just dropped them into the big blue box...lol!!

I go ahead and put the extra postage on them. I sent some in a swap and had members have to drive into town to the post office to pay the postage I owed. Some are fragile and need to be hand processed, some are too fat to slide through the equipment. One of mine had a big black streak across the fabric because of the machinery. That's sad after all the work done on them. I have gotten some with plastic sleeves to protect them and that was nice but I've not found those for sale around here.

EvelynB, I think you have to order the clear envelopes on line! Luvthosequilts ordered some several yrs ago and sent me some....I could've used them but didn't think of it until I was on my way to the PO! Mine aren't fat [just fusible peltex w/ fabric fused to both sides] and have no embelishments...can't say anything more cause that might spoil it for ya...lol!

A white fabric eraser will remove some of the black streak that comes from the mailing process. Cant remember where i got mine...problably Joannes but it helps.

I'm always so glad that the pc made it through the mail I really don't care if it does have a smudge. It's kind of a "badge of courage".

I learned something from this swap. I didn't know odd shapes could be mailed. Love the postcard, Lynne. Thank you so much!

So glad to see they are arriving. I was a little worried cause of the shape. That's why I had to pay 20c extra...cause it didn't reach 'corner to corner'! I found the image when I was looking thru clip art trying to come up w/ an idea...lol!! They were sooo soooo easy!!!

I have rec'd different shaped pc's from Teasea so thought I'd try something besides rectangle this time!
