This Friday and Saturday is a "big" neighborhood yard sale in our city. Last year was remarkable as practically every home in an entire subdivision had a sale.
This year, the adjoining subdivision is joining in!
I'm like a kid before Christmas -- all excited about the marathon.
And I'm making a list: Glassware for totems Small old suitcases for pet beds Old costume jewelry (always on my list)
Here's part of my current list for yard sales altho I'm getting very selective in what I actually buy:
Odd chairs Architectural salvage bits and pieces, useful pieces of wood for crafts China for mosaics Antique furniture Silver holloware Silver flatware Interesting framed mirrors and empty frames Handcrafted pottery Nice lamps to use as is or take apart for crafts New fabric (must be very good quality) or old tapestry/damask/velvet drapes for crafts/sewing projects Original oil paintings especially still lifes Depression and carnival glass Anything that's an unusual/original/attractive-to-me decorative object I can't pass up! Good plant pots and urns, garden decor, perennial plants
My DH's list is tools, fishing stuff, tools, fishing stuff, tools... occasionally a piece of glass for Lucky!
Good luck on your "shop-til-you-drop" yard sale day! We used to do those when we lived in the city! Wear very comfortable shoes!

fabric pieces, burlap craft supplies wood picture frames chairs old doors columns, spindles dressers and small tables hooks, letters and small odds and ends old dishes and pottery garden items
All of the above is correct.. and there is oh so much more I could tell you...
What I do is have a couple of projects in my minds..... a few ideas (what I would like)... and a few ideals (what I fancy).
I get anything that lines up w/my projects and close projects... and I pick up a few of the things I fancy.. things that bring about wild project ideas... about 70/30.... Like this beautiful sterling silver lipstick holders... Yeah I "could" create a boudoir in my home (not likely), or I could sell it on ebay(maybe)... or I could incorporate into this great makeup station I am am fancying to create(more likely).
My list: flannel shirts, pj's, fabric for rag quilts anything red, white and blue, Military related anything Ch***tmas, lights, trees, ribbon. wire wreath frames for sandwich bag seasonal wreaths. lawn furniture, planters dog stuff, (have four Poms and a Sheltie) glass cylinders, glass plates for candle arrangements. crayons, for candle making, old muffin tins to melt broken crayons in, for unusal homemade crayons for small hands. washboards for making small cabinets for the laundry room, with the washboard as the door. fake flowers (have too many stray cats for planting flowers) throw pillows to be recovered for each holiday. Just found a tall wire bin, (about 4') want to make a large firecracker out of it. Thought about using the chasing lights coming from the bottom up, on the inside, then cover the wire with red, white and blue fabric, with a sparkle star spray coming out of the top. car flags to make mini flag poles, (cut off the bottom) then use pvc pipe for the flag poles, along my driveway. ornaments for small year round tree.
