I'm posting this here as I know how thrifty this group is - has anyone ever bought from hotel liquidation sales? Can anyone recommend one in the Boston area? There are some items (dressers, wardrobe/armoire, etc) that I would like to find "on the cheap" but am new to the area and don't know where to find such a seller.
Don't know about hotel/motel liquidations, would love to find one myself, the last one I had seen listed was on ebay, think I typed in hotel/motel furniture or large lot items. My favorite place to visit is www.thethriftshopper.com its a site where you can find the thrift stores in your area or an area you will be visiting. Whenever I leave home I research the site and print up a list and they have the store hours, phone number and maps available also. Was in Utah a couple weeks ago (live in Oklahoma) and hit 8 out of the nine thrift stores, anyway I had to ship two boxes of goodies home, besides the extra luggage I bought and checked on the plane trip. Hope this will give you another reason for shopping, I use it all the time.

I can't help you with the Boston Area, but we have one in the Dayton area. I bought my DR chairs from them...$60 each...and about 10yrs ago...I also bought an armoire from there and i love it...
I think the nicer the hotel, the nicer what they are getting rid of will be (duh, Ms. Obvious here). Anyway, we had a cheapy Ramada around here get rid of everything, we picked up two nightstands for our daughter and sil. Our neighbor got a bunch of stuff (including mattresses, yuck) for their coast house.
The stuff was all over the place and we just walked around til we found two night stands in good condition. I think we paid $20 for both. We bought at the beginning of the sale - if we had waited a week or so until the end we heard they were practically giving stuff away.
When the Plaza hotel closed in NYC my daughter, Granddaughter and I went to the liquidation sale which was run by those hotel liquidators. It was a surreal experience as we could roam the hotel at will, visit rooms; the kitchens etc. etc. KInd of sad too as we had once had high tea there and one of my nephews had a wedding reception there. We did get bargains. Towels, napkins, cutlery, I picked some things up in the kitchen and sold them for a profit at my yard sale. Don't know in general about these sales though. Why not try the big liquidation companies and see if they will be holding one in your area?

Oh, Lady of shallot, that sounds so wonderful - we would always stop and have a drink in the lobby bar (I think it was called the Palm Court?). Stayed there once and that was wonderful, too. I just love that hotel. What is the status with its reopening? Any public areas open or all private now?
i googled hotel liquidation sales in ohio for me and a bunch pop up!!try that!!!

I live in So Calif and we have a hotel liquidation store, the decorators on Design on a Dime use to go there. There are some good bargins and some of the furniture is overprices, they now carry store overruns. We also have a Macys furniture store that carries last years merchandise the prices are any where from 50 to 70 percent off. See if you have anything like that in your neighbor.

I recently visited a cort rental clearance center. Most of the items were from model homes and were in good condition. I didn't buy anything, but might be going this weekend to look for an armoire.
