i have been seeing old windows turn into crafts anybody got any idesa please

I saw a show on HGTV that was a yard redo and they had a window hanging without the glass and they put wood on it to enlarge the sectioned parts. It was on house outside wall where the deck was.They had extended the 8 over 8 with wood and had lovely potted plants on the shelves. It was lovely.I wold think the wood used would need to be water friendly because of watering the plants.

the craft I practice is decoupage and a lot of it I do reverse on glass (the images are glued to the back of the glass, face down on the glass)

I have used an old four paned window for one of these projects. Although it is kind of hard to see from this image each pane included a woman with a dog.

Paint a garden scene on the glass panes, hang a curtain, instant "window."

I always wanted to make a garden quilt and mount to the other side...hang a curtain on room side...never have...yet...

I've seen old window frames used indoors & out.
Interior: faux stained glass, framing a large outdoor scene, showcasing a photo collage of favorite travel locations etc.
A neighbor made an outdoor secret garden "reading nook" by planting a climbing fig on one fence & added an old screen door; on the adjacent fence she hung an old window with panes painted blue & added a planter box.

I'm not crafty. In spring I use an old window pane to warm seedlings. In summer I use it to "cook" sunshine jam

My dear friend's mother passed away and my friend took her mother's hankies and put one in each pane of an old window (using the glass just like a picture frame) and hung it up in her foyer. It is lovely and brings my friend many memories of her mother. She used cardboard cut the size of the panes, pinned the hankies on the backside of the cardboard, taped it all in nice and snug and put paper on the back to keep out the dust.

Glad to see this thread. I have just bought an old property, and inherited a lot of old windows in the shop. The shop is huge, so I thought I would paint scenes in a couple of the windows, and put a planter box on them for flowers and attach them to my shop. I am also looking at building a greenhouse out of some of them.

I had a 3 pane frame that I knocked the glass out and cut a board to fit into where the glass was and then put yo-yo's on them in each of the three panes. I just used scraps. It made it pretty country looking and I am not a country person but put it up in my sewing room for awhile anyway.

I found in someone's trash on the side of the road, an 8 pane glass door. I kept it for many years, not knowing what to do with it. One day, an idea popped in my head.Why not use it as a picture frame? I have four children. I used their graduation pictures, and a picture of each child in their younger years, totalling 8 pictures, 8 x 10 in size. I cleaned off the wood and glass and turned the door horizontally. I arranged the pictures ( behind the glass) oldest child to youngest on the top row, and under each graduation picture the same childs picture when they were younger. . It's hanging over our piano and, I must say it turned out really great!

I envy you! I gather old windows and love to do stuff with them! Looks like there old posts on here. Hopefully there'll be more current ones!
