repairing a fabric portable closet Sign In/Join

I bought a 60" portable closet with a fabric, zippered front. I use this to store seasonal clothing. The zipper opening broke and I cannot find a zipper long enough to replace it (I can sew). The item is too old to return to the store, but too new to be broken already. Any of you crafty types have an idea of how to make this useable again? How can I fix this short of sewing an entirely new cover for it?

Can you use Velcro? It comes in long strips or use two strips.

Ties across the opening would also work.
