Made an old coffe table into a bench. Can I tuft it even though I already upholstery?

Made an old coffe table into a bench. Can I tuft it even though I already upholstery?
Can anybody tell me if I can still do that? I realized it needs to be tufted, but I don't want to do the whole thing again.
