Made my usual stops at Good Will and another thrift store on Sunday. At second stop, a BIG messa Fiestaware dishes... kinda butter/yellow color.
I PASSED... and kicked myself the rest of Sunday! Went back yesterday and it was all still there!! $19.99... 8 dinner plates, 8 salad/sandwich plates, 6 mugs and 4 cereal/soup bowls. NO chips and needed to look VERY closely to find minor signs of wear.
Didn't NEED them... just hadda have them!
Made right here in WV. Great dinnerware in beautiful colors. Older folks sometimes change to a lighter weight because of arthritis issues. I know because my Pfaltzgraff is becoming a problem for my hands.
Made a HUGE find of F-ware a few summers ago at a yard sale. Saw 2-3 soup/cereal bowls on table... $1 each. Sister had just started replacing her dishes with F, so figure who couldn't use spare bowls?? Seller said... I have a LOT of it for sale! Spent $50 (WAY WAY more than I normally spent at a yard sale) and came home with 12 place settings, almost all "jewel tone" stuff, NO chips or significant signs of use.
"I can't use a cell phone in the car. I have to keep my hands free for making gestures."
Good for you. I grew up on that stuff from the 40/50's and still use it. I remember my DDs fighting over the one dark blue dinner plate.
