Well today my sister and I decided to try our luck shopping in the rain. 7 windows with glass, 2 shutters, plant stand, ash bucket will be made into planter, washtub will be made into planter, wooden bench, wicker chair, wooden box, sofa table, pair of skis, wooden shelf just needs paint, screendoor,a few old wooden framed screens,a wooden step ladder we filled the truck twice. OMG this is very addicting and for those of you who are keeping track we didn't get locked out this time only had a dog chase us off his property...LOL Rainy days are good noone else out there!!! NJ tomboy, was thinking of adding some hooks to the skis hang horizontally or add pegs and hang vertically to hang christmas stockings on. My mind is on overload right now. So many ideas so little time.

I could only browse the side of the roads as I drove to work. Wonder if hubby would care if I quit and just junked full time. Great finds for you today.

I will post pics as soon as possible. I still have to go back to my sisters and pick up the rest of my finds. I could not fit them all in my car Big Grin. She was going to start working on her stuff last night. I can't wait to start on my pile Smile.

    Way to go way2junk!

Reminds me of a couple of years ago there was practically a typhoon on a MAJOR junk day but we went out anyway and managed a few truckloads.

......sometimes I think junking is a sickness... Big Grin

In our area it is spring clean up. People cleaning out there houses and garages put everything curbside and the town comes and picks it up. It usually lasts a couple of weeks. So yes would be the answer to your question and usually you don't have to go that far. We got all that stuff within 3 miles of my sisters house. Big Grin

You can drill holes in the skis (if wooden) and add bud vases.

What a great load of stuff! You know, I keep saying there's no junking in my town, but I think I'm going to start driving some alleys in the older parts of town Smile

I do have some Colorado ideas for your skis. I've seen coat racks where 3 or more skis are stood upright -- sort of like a teepee. Screwed together with a wooden base at the bottom, screwed at the top and hooks on the skis.

Another really cool thing I saw in Albuquerque last week were ski chandeliers. The poles were the structure holding the skis in a sort of triangle. The top of the skis with the graphics were facing down. Super cool for a lodge or restaurant (where we saw them).

Thank you for the ideas Lovely thing. I am still not sure what I am going to do was thinking of hanging horizontally and adding hooks to make coat rack. I love the coat rack three ski idea though... might have to keep looking for another ski. Roll Eyes Does anyone have any suggestions for the window screens in the wooden frames?

In the area we live in everyone knows that people are going to do this. Actually alot of people will set stuff that is still good out there away from their trash hoping someone that can use it will stop and pick it up. We also have a store in this community set up by the only large employer in the area called the "Free Store" everyone takes their donations there and everything is free. It is run by volunteers and there is a donation can for those that can afford to put something in. But in a community that is very low income it is a blessing to alot of people.

    Nice finds!
    Razz
dh has been bi*c*ing about the amt of junk I have here-- but he is just as bad if not worse sometimes!! Today he curbside treasured a nice commercial drum set ( partial- one large connected to a smaller drum) and then up the road from the drums strangely he found a large canvas of a homemade portrait of a teen with a guitar- 2 finds tied to music... oddly related!!
Ever have days where you find the same thing again and again-- or same type of related things....
say a bunch of vaccuums, all toy collections, baby equipment, all furntiture etc..it is very bizarre!!
Sometimes I feel like the kids from the book the boxcar children--excited most when I find things...
when I read that book I thought it was so neat how they found things and made them useful again-- this was at 7 years old-- I was doomed back then... Red Face
