I want to make a bench to sit on the back side of my dining table , I have an extra kitchen table. It is smaller than the table that I am using. I am using the chairs from the smaller table ( 4 of them) I need sitting for six. So the bench will make enough sitting. The table has very sturdy legs. It is 36 x 48 inches. Green legs with a natural color top. Can I just shorten the legs and width of the table top to make a bench ? Has anyone ever done this Any ideas , comments and suggestions are WELCOME.
    Thank You

Never done it, but I would say yes to your question. I would put some kind of casters or brass leg covers on the bottom of the "new Legs". Then you can buy some simple trim that is the same size as the thickness and simply put that around the edges that were cut. This will elimate the sharp edges left from cutting. Stain or paint the same color to match. You will also probably have to move the legs on one side in so the new seating isn't so wide and looks lopsided. Just reattach the same way they are on now. Or you can buy brackes that will hold them on.

Test yourself before you let your guests. Wouldn't want chicken and rice in the lap of a guest lying in the floor from the legs giving, wondering what happened. lol that would be amusing though.
