    You wanted some ideas for turning a door into a coat rack with a shelf..The pictures below are mainly 'hall trees'. the white one on the left has a shelf on it. Perhaps you could create something out of your door from the ideas here!!

    Thanks you so much Puttsaround, I did finish my entry hat rack. If I knew how I would post a pic. The glass was intact so, I painted a landscape on the glass put hooks across the top and down the sides. I then added a shelf directly below the glass part. I had cleaned the door thorougly so, I like the weathered look and chose not to paint or stain and it was weathered!! I like it and have gotten compiments. I had seen the pics you sent somewhere so thanks again. If I ever learn the process I will post a pic.
