I am in the process of making a bench from a full sized bed that I got this weekend for $2. Yes, TWO DOLLARS! So, if I mess up my first bench, it's not that big of a deal. I'll just make it into something else. LOL The footboard is too low to use for arm rests so it will just be the width of the seat itself. Anyway, I had my FIL who manages the local lumber yard cut the footboard exactly in half and I've attached it to the headboard. Problem is I am wondering if the sides come out too far. What is the average width of the side supports? Or should I say the average width of the seat itself? Thank you in advance!

Thank you! I will see how that measures out with what it currently is. But it sounds like I will be taking it apart and visiting FIL again at the lumber yard. That's ok, I need some polyurethane for some table tops to get them finished up completely.
