This head and footboard was DH's purchase at a YS last year but he has already made me two other benches from headboards so I'm wondering what else I can get him to use these for.
I don't really need a third bench but don't know what other things anyone makes from these.
Anyone creative ideas? TIA

Joy... I have know unique ideas for that set, but just wanted to say.... it sure is pretty!
I would love to have that made into a bench. I know you already have 2, but there are so many different ways a bench can be made. Some of my favorite benches are the ones without arms. I could see the footboard made into a "doggie day bed" or even a child's bench! just a thought....... gail

That is a VERY excellent thot that I wouldn't have THOT of! A child's bench it is as we don't, at the moment, have dogs. I can see a big and little armless bench on the verandah now. Thanks so much for this idea. I'm planning it now so DH has something to do when he finishes the firepit benches.

Also an excellent idea and I had considered that but our house is open plan with lots of windows so I have very little wall space left. I collect "stuff" to hang on walls so am really out of space. Thanks for posting.

Well, my creative muse seems to be on vacation, but I love the child's bench idea, too. I'm wondering how the larger piece would look as a yard address sign? They are nice and heavy looking and I love the curvy design. Looking forward to what you and DH come up with!
What if you cut the legs off at the base part of the headboard and used the headboard part as the top of a sofa table--the flat side would go against the sofa or a wall, and the curvy part would be in front. Does this make sense?? I also see the sides of a cool cabinet, you would have to cut the headboard down to the same size as the footboard and cut off the legs.
Joy You could always make it into a bench and I'm sure there is someone special that you could give it to as a Christmas present. To me receiving a homemade present means so much. You can always buy something but it is special when someone takes the time to make you something. Let us know what you make, also some pictures. Have a nice day. Pat

I love the shape on them. they would make nice bench to sell at thrift sale or to donate to church sale. I think they would be lovely dolled and painted up to make a sign in front of your house with name of family or maybe in the garden saying welcome or some poem. though a bit large i suppose.
Another idea is to put a small bed in the garden. It is like a little room. bacvkdrop. And bed is planted etc. Even with matching side tables. I hope I can find the picture. I have it in My pictures, but don't know how to get it from there. I haven't the source saved. But it was a garden show and done so lovely. I have to find the picture now.

What about a sign of some sort. Love the shape of the back. The shelf idea is good too. The bottom rail could be the shelf and the top (ornate) portion could be the back, hung below or above the rail. Paint it for your decor.
HANG IT ON THE WALL FOR A QUILT HANGER,IN THE GARDEN WITH VINES GROWING OVER IT, PUT NEWEL POSTS ON EITHER END & USE FOR A DIVIDER IN THE HOUSE OR OUTDOORS ON PORCH, WHITEWASH IT & PROP AGAINST WALL
