Drizzly rain but not cold day here in NJ. Set out to go to supermarket and then to local thrift shops to hunt for a bargain in lieu of non-existent yard sales.

Ended up in Good Will. They always have items 50% off by color of price sticker. A Kitchen Aid stand mixer!! I alrerady have a basic one but just could not pass this one up. Runs very smoothly. Has dough hook, whisk and paddle. Top doesn't tilt... bowl cranks up and down... bigger than one I have.

I'm very frugal but the price was just TOO good to pass on! Marked $39.99 and YEP... 50% off!! I don't NEED 2 stand mixers but!?! Needs a little cosmetic work... scratches & scrapes. And a good clean-up. Gonna spray paint it flat black and trick it out with FLAMES like Alton Brown's mixer on Good Eats.

Finding a steal...wonderful!
Having a forum to share it with others who can just taste the delight...priceless!
Way to go!

oops! That's the "after" shot. Tried to post both at once and realized I hadda do them separately. WHen I tried to post the "before" shot... was told it was too big?? How come I could post 1st one??

Just LOVE the joy of the "hunt" for bargains! Got a blue enamel Le Crueset grill pan for $2-3 at Good Will... in PERFECT condition, aside from a little grunge in crevaces. Looked like someone MAYBE used it 1-2 times, didn't like cleaning it up, and just got rid of it!?! A little oven cleaner on the cast iron surface, a little (very little) elbow grease and it was like it had never been used. New something like $100 or so.

Oh, very nice. And Kitchenaid typically makes such good quality stuff, too.

You just never know what will be at those thrift stores and yard sales-- I love that.

What a super find! And it looks great with the new paint job, too. Never thought of repainting a scuffed one- what a great idea! Just think of all the great colors out there- match any decor.
