Well I was inspired by my success with the shelf that I decided to tackle another project.
    Here is my inspiration.

I started today with some cabinet doors, again. and I made a frame and made one of the doors functional. You can see the legs that I'm going to use on the sides laying there to the left.

I'm going to add these to the sides, as embelishment. Then my DH will make me a top, bottom and a shelf for inside out of scrap wood.

I plan to paint it all out in cottage white.

    Stay tuned.

Well I've made some progress the last day or so. I decided to remove the panel on the door and replace it with a piece of old tin ceiling, I'm liking the look. DH was able to saw the table leg in half today and I attached each half to the sides. I decided to use an oval table top that I found on the side of the road as the top to this, so DH doesn't have to make me anything else. I'll start priming tomorrow and then I'll get it painted and distressed. I can't wait to see the finished product. It's gonna get cold this weekend, So I need to get it all done and inside. I hate working in the cold.

here's a pic. the top is not yet attached, and the door is just proped up there for the photo. But you can see how I added the ceiling tin to it.

Margo, I'm so impressed by your talent! I can't wait to see it when you're done, and at this point I think it's going to be even better than the inspiration piece.

Very, very cool!! I do believe we have an artist among us! I'm so impressed with your work. Ya know you could sell those and make a fortune! Things made from architectural salvage are SO popular here in California(I guess everywhere). Keep us posted and stay warm.

Here's an updated pic. I'm not sure about the top and it seems so white to me. Any suggestions?

That is awesome! Ever since you posted the first time about what to do with old spindles and table legs I've been collecting them like a mad women Eek Been showing dh your beautiful creations and for once he actually doesn't seem to mind my curb shopping obsession! Do you use a table saw to cut the legs in half? We are debating on the easiest way to do this.
Thanks for sharing and being such an inspiration!

My DH did use a table saw, and apparently it wasn't the easiest thing to do.

I've since decided to change it. I've removed the top and will replace it with a different one, and I'm going with a different paint job.

Ok, so I had DH cut down the top and I ended up with some great scraps. We mounted the top and one of the scraps just under it as an apron.
Then the whole thing was painted the same color.
    I'm liking it much better.
DH thinks I need to paint the spindles an accent brown.

Margo, I thought I loved it before, but now I really LOVE it! And that tin insert looks beautiful in it! Great job to you and your husband! Smile

Btw, I think you should leave the spindles just the way they are. Smile

I vote with the hubby to do something to accent the spindles. Not sure brown is the answer...
