Well, you've got me beat, but not by much. I was driving to the store one day and saw a garage sale that had a bicycle that I thought I'd like to buy. I stopped in and wondered why there wasn't any prices on anything, (I hate that!) but you know, people are funny, so I just asked, "How much for the bike?"
Turns out it *wasn't* a garage sale, just some guy cleaning out his garage...
I did however get the bike! He went in and asked his daughter if she was going to use it this year, since she'd gotten her driver's license, and she said no, and they sold it to me for 40 bucks! The guy even helped loading it into my van!
My best "not really a garage sale" find that year!!
My family still laughs about that one!

As embarrassing as that is lsr, I'd rather have it that way than be the guy whose garage was so bad someone thought it was a sale. Oh, wait. Maybe I better not open my garage door or someone might stop.

If that wasn't so embarrassing that would be HIL-arious! Well at least you can laugh now... can you? (small snickering in the background) I am sure his ego is just a bit shot now.. wow! His wife is probably saying "I told you so Herb!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Whoo-Hoo - I've got a dancin' avatar! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If I can figure me out - then I can help you better... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Along this thread....I'd been on an out of state antique buying trip and backed into the driveway to unload. I had things all over the driveway as I was sorting to store in the garage. A lady pulled into the driveway (it's a long one too) and asked the price of an item and asked, is this a yard sale? Well no, all is going to a store, and I had some great items. All old, vintage, not your typical yard sale. Hey, a bunch of stuff in a driveway....looks like a yard sale from 75 feet. We both laughed.
