I was told that the durock around the bathroom shower should be 1 inch thick (thicker than the durock on my bathroom floors).

Is this true or is the person just trying to get me to spend more money?

I used 1/2" on my custom shower I did. I don't think they even make it 1 inch thick. It sound fishy to me.

Jacob, dh has been a contractor for 30+ yrs. He said 1/2" is what you need. We just finnished a round shower in our bath, and used 1/4", as we had to bend it.
