We just came home from a plumbing supply house. We are redoing our bathroom and thought selection of a faucet and shower fixtures would be the simplest part. However we found a large variety of fixtures and finishes. We have been hearing that polished brass is outdated. Needless to say that is what we assumed we would get. Since our vanity top is a black granite with splashes of other colors the salesman suggested brushed nickle. A second choice he suggested was polished nickle. Our concern is that if in 10 years we decide to sell our house, will these finishes be considered as outdated as the polish brass currently is.
Any comments or suggestions??

What do you like? If you like the polished brass and are going to be in the home for 10 yrs, then that can be how you go. If you are looking to sell in 2 or 3 years, i agree, it wouldn't be a wise choice.

When i look at what holds the test of time, i look back thru time to see what has "always" been around, and that is where the polished chrome comes in. Brushed nickel is a nice update that has the potential to stand the test of time.

Hi out on a limb
Thanks for the response. We have been quite perplexed and actually liked the polish nickle until we saw the price for matching shower doors. It was 3 times as much as the polished brass. Guess what, we are sticking with the brass.
