Antonio and his team transformed two rooms of a sorority house from Cal State on Saturday night's show. He had to try to please 115 Alpha Phi sorority sisters in two spaces with an abundance of sofas and sorority memorabilia. He really listened to the officers from the sorority, who shared with him that their sorority's crest was burgundy/deep red and silver, and the sorority's flower was the forget-me-not/their mascot was the teddy bear, etc. He created a fun, vibrant space in the study/lounging area with a 3-D wall display of over 400 bears, a massive sofa and chalkboard walls, and a calmer space in the dining/meeting area, dedicated to the sorority's history, including a hand-crafted table with the sorority's crest etched into the top of the table and on the benches. What did you think of the spaces?

This makeover wasn't one of my favorites, but I loved Chewie rolling in the pile of bears. It was an entertaining episode!

While the bear wall was very whimsical...OMG will it be filthy in no time. No way to possibly keep it clean. I LOVED the table and benches altho the thought of sitting on hard wood benches studying makes even my ample butt sore But I have to say I was surprised that he went the whole show calling the sorority Alpha Fee...Phi is pronounced Fi...or at least it was back in the dark ages when I was in a sorority. Maybe they pronounce the Greek alphabet different in CA *Debi* ~*Never trade the thrills of living for the security of existence*~

Definitely not a world renounced designers masterpiece. I appreciate AB trying to be different, but its more fantasy than reality. He's an artist, but not an interior designer. It's an impractical design, and I have to admit his lack of intelligence (or education) doesnt help his image one bit. He could of at least learned the proper pronounciation of the sorority's name. Personal opinion, when I meet with clients, I like to make sure that I know and pronunciate their last names correctly, because I feel it shows mutual respect and attentiveness. AB is just taking advantage of a good thing w/o trying to better oneself and "winging it" - not cool.

There are so many grammatical errors in your post, artluverrr, that I hope you speak with your clients rather than trying to post anything to them. You'd think you might check that before attempting a criticism of someone else...wouldn't you? For the record, this was not my favorite of Antonio's work either....but I'm not going to disparage his education as mine is wanting on occasion, as well.

I misspelled my words on purpose so that way you could be able to follow along. By the way, you may want to understand the concept of people HAVING THEIR OWN OPINION, that is why this is a public forum. I made a comment about his education, because it is an important factor in many aspects, such as: one's ability to fully relate to others, make a better presentation of oneself, and (depending on business) exceed in one's trade. It was apparently too much of an advanced abstract concept for you to fully comprehend, and that's why you misunderstood me and my purpose for making that statement. I personally would be "put off" by someone who didn't seem to be knowledgable in their trade (at least for someone in a highly lucrative business) like me. Soooo, I do speak and "post" my clients in which I do take the time to spell check, because they're important well-connected people, and not sarcastic overly consumed "posters" like some people I've just encountered. By the way, you may want to learn about punctuation; as your closing sentence doesnt make any sense.

phi by itself is pronounced fi but the sorority is refered to as alpha fee, or also simply Ay-fee here we are now, entertain us
|
Alpha phi has been referred to as Alpha fi for years upon years (as mentioned in a previous posting by another member {no offense poster}) I understand that Antonio has a special place in your heart for decorating your soriority house, etc., but Nooo, he did pronounce it incorrectly. The pronounciation of a word doesn't change when it is conbined with another to form a two word, three syllable word. Just to let you know. Is that enough entertainment for you?

You're wrong actually, artluverrr. Phi is pronounced "fee" when talking about our sorority. "In Alpha Phi the Greek letter Phi is pronounced "Fee". It is a common misconception that this pronunciation is because Phi follows the vowel Alpha. However, the pronunciation of Phi as "Fee" rather than "Fi" actually results from the fact that the organization adopted the Greek rather than anglicized, mainly American, pronunciation of the letter because it sounded more feminine." I recently just re-watched the episode and I thought the rooms were beautiful, especially the phi bear wall. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Aphi92,
