Has anyone here tried to start new plants from cuttings? I have a huge bougainvillea and would love to take a few cuttings when I bring it in for the winter. Thanks for your help.

I've tried everything else, but not my bougainvillea. I always say it doesn't hurt to snip a small piece off and try to root it in plain water...if it takes off, great; if it doesn't, the plant probably needed pruning anyway! I have rooted and given away quite a few hybiscus plants, bleeding heart vines, etc. by just snipping off a "tender" (not old wood) shoot and letting it sit in water for a few weeks. I think I'll try my bougainvillea and see how it goes.

I know for sure that KactusKathi has successfully started bougs from cuttings... I have one of the cuttings in my backyard now that's 5 ft tall! LOL

Give it a whirl... and if you aren't sure how to go about it send her a private message... title it "bikerchick sent me" so she opens it! Smile

The key to a nice-looking lawn is a good mower. I recommend one who is muscular and shirtless.
