1930 bungalow. 13 x 10 kitchen.Not too much natural light.

Painting cabinets white. Stainless hardware. Stainless Appliances. Cambria 'Waterford' Counters (dark grey, with some blue and white). Have my heart set on Cararra marble backsplash. All that is missing is a new floor! Entire house is original medium oak floors (too light for my taste) Love the look of dark hardwood but I know that wont jive with the rest of the house. Need something that can handle 2 dogs and an occasional toddler. Mostly just stuck on what color/tone (strong hate for red,orange,tans lol).

Anyone with any specific brands/colors. I'm a total loss in the floor stores. Thanks!

I had Duraceramic Sierra Terra Slate in my kitchen until earlier this year. I was happy with it, but I had to replace the entire floor (nothing to do with the tiles!) so I took the opportunity to replace it with a dark cork with a greenish undertone which I really love. I used the Sierra Slate I had purchased to patch the kitchen in my bathroom instead. The bath has white fixtures and the floor looks fantastic. I don't know how big your dogs are, but I have a small dog and she hasn't done anything awful to my cork floor. Here's a pic of a Duraceramic tile that I think would look good with your colors???

I also bought cork flooring for my kitchen. It has a cushioning effect and is easier to walk on.

Weird! the vinyl thats in the kitchen right now looks just like that. I cant stand it! lol it looks orange to me. I will look into cork I like that idea.

Does anyone think I should go with a solid colored floor due to the pattern in the counters/backsplash?

Should I go with a warm/cool toned floor?

Are you happy with how your cork is holding up?

The kitchen will be the main traffic area of the house as it is connected to the back porch which we'll be using as the main point of entry. I've never actually seen cork floors so I'm wondering if it will develop a traffic pattern.

Somehow my reply had trigger words in it. All I said was that the Library of C*ongress has cork floors as well as a ch*urch in Chicago (since 1890!). I have attached a pic of mine so you can see that it does not look like wine bottles or a bulletin board. It is very subdued. Also, it comes in 12"x24" tiles. BTW, I'm sorry the example I attached for Duraceramic has orange in it. If you go to their site you will see that it comes in many colors and patterns.

I usually prefer marble flooring as its easier to maintain and also absorbs the heat geerated in kitchens.
