I was having second thoughts on my granite selection -- Brazilian Summer -- so I went today and looked at it again, thinking I would change to something darker and more dramatic. Well -- when I saw it again I loved it! It confirmed for me that it was the right choice. It coordinates perfectly with my cream cabinets with a brown glaze, stainless appliances and antique silver hardware, honey oak floors and grey blue pale travertine brick backsplash. It has a lot of interesting metallic clusters and iridesence -- so it is an interesting granite without being "flashy." And I have a small kitchen so I need to keep it sort of light. It is not nearly as "golden" as it appears in this photo -- my slab is more rich cream with a bit of brown and gold and lots of the silvery bluish grey. It is not a very common granite -- but I hope you all enjoy the link.
Thank you! It can vary quite a bit but there is always some pretty metallic silver and iridescent pearl in it -- as well as the brown and gold and a little bit of black. My piece -- as I said -- has a very rich cream background. Suprisingly -- it has a mostly neutral color palete -- so it can be used successfully with many looks. I have seen it used with medium dark cabinets and the contrast is quite beautiful. My cabinets are a rich cream with a brown glaze -- so I am going with a somewhat more subdued look -- but that granite definitely has a bit of a "wow" effect.
Anyway -- I already took my "before" photos and that is a good thing because my old cabinets are finally GONE!!! I will post the finished product -- hopefully in five weeks. I already love my contractor -- he is one of those super neat guys -- cleans up everyday when he is done so it keeps the home "stress" to a minimum.
Oh my goodness -- the truck just pulled up and my cut granite is on the back -- I am peeking from my bedroom window.
It looks really really pretty BUT it does hae a lot going on!! I am a little nervous -- although the colors are sensational and just what I expected.
I will post photos as soon as my kitchen is done -- two weeks until completion. My contractor is working out wonderfully -- a super good guy -- easy to work with and a first class carpenter with a lot of knowledge -- AND he is also a plumber!! Did I mention he cleans up really well at the end of each day?? And he only listens to the oldies station?? LOL -- my kind of guy.
Your granite looks awesome! It also looks very much like what we picked for our kitchen. Ours is from Brazil also, but called "golden beach" I love that irridesncence that twinkles as the light hits it.
Good luck and I hope it looks amazing when installed. I've a few weeks away from thet yet....patiently waiting!
