Question. Is $30,000.00 for a kitchen redesign (essentially the same footprint as my current kitchen); a design that includes new high-grade melamine cabinets and quartz countertop + installation -- Is this a reasonable cost for a kitchen reno? There are no new appliances. There is no flooring. They did not do the demo. They charged an upfront fee of $1000, deducted from the total, to do a design, (applied to the total cost.) Just curious...
Lowes just quoted our new kitchen. In our case it averaged out to be $520 a linear foot for quality (but not top of the line)wood cabinets and quartz counters installed. No rip out of the old kitchen, no appliances, no flooring, no backsplash.A simple 10 ft. deep galley kitchen with 10 feet of cabinets and quartz on two sides came to $10,400. The quartz was around $80 per square foot and the cabinets wound up being $360 a linear foot by the time we added installation, crown, pull outs, pantry etc. This message has been edited. So what was the design cost for? Same footprint, just new cabs and counters?
Before spending that much, I would sure get comparisons from a couple of other quality companies/sources in your area. It does sound a bit high to me, for what you are describing(in US dollars) but geographic locations can vary a bit too. And the number of cabinets, sq foot of counter is another variable to consider, that Charles mentioned.
